500 Calories

Assertive Guy

Just a begginer...

I decided recently I need to increase calories by about 1000 per day to reach my targets. At first I added 2 Litres of fruit juice which gave me the full 1000, BUT also allot of gas!!! (I dont eat friut very often). So now Im down to 1 Litre, and that only gives me half the calories! At 34pence per litre, its a very inexpensive and healthy way, but what could I add thats inexpensive and healthy (and very quick to consume/prepare) for another 500???

Fruit Juice (fresh) is healthy in moderation. One to two litres of fruit juice is not. Depending on the type of juice, you are likely looking at considerable amounts of fructose which is where the majority of your calories will be coming from. At 34p per litre, my guess is that the nutritional label has a whole host of suprises on it.

Have one small glass of fresh juice and replace the rest with complex, low to medium glycemic, carbs. Whole wheat pastas are quick to prepare and are inexpensive. High fibre, fruit and vegetables, beans, whole wheat bread, large flaked oatmeal, nuts, ANPB (all natural peanut butter) are all much better choices than what you are currently doing.
