As a Law student (I know perfectly why the 2nd amendment was approved and how it's regulate) this kind of argument have no price... how many times the US people's militia (regardless the National Guard) has had to act? What the US has is a problem with background checks on people trying to get guns. Both the virginia tech hooter and aurora shooter had professional psych evaluations stating there was a risk, and yet all was ignored.
