So I'm sick and tired of not being able to get a damn credit card anyway and havent been able to get a secured yet,so I decide to go to equifax and get my credit report and they asked me a bunch of questions that do not match me (like my bank mortgage,my monthly mortgage amount, etc)and then it said Icouldnt get my report..... so now I'm freaking out thinking someone may have been using my social, I call equifax and they tell me they will send me the copy but that my social isnt attached to my credit report and to fax them a copy of me W2 and my social, what the fuck does this imply for me? does this mean anything Imay or may not have done hasnt even been reported since I got here!?!!? FML:(

no, theyre control questions....its normal that they ask a few questions that may not pertain to you at all........

I suggest an easier service than equifax direct
they continue to have aliases and two addresses Ive never had on my reports anyway and I actually put a security freeze on them because I find them the least cooperative

look at truecredit.com..its a simple easy to read three in one report and will give you an idea of whats goin on...

try a local credit union for a secured card..its what I did with my husbands very bruised credit and went from that to toy limit cards in three months...to a 5 figure limit card in a yr..to the mortgage

no credit and bad credit are unfortunately the same thing when it comes to scores :(

research the site I gave you more !

that's correct. They'll ask you a series of questions and you have to pick the true ones. It's to keep others from accessing your information.

I don't like the idea of getting a cc in order to build your credit. If you're not careful revolving debt can do more damage than good.

My suggestion to you would be to either take the title to your truck down to your local bank and use it as collateral and borrow a little bit against it. It's pretty much the same thing as getting a secured CC but your interest will be lower, and installments are better for your credit than revolving.

I disagree with shirl on no credit being as bad as bad credit. while being a ghost does suck sometimes it's still way better than having fucked up credit. It's easiar to build your credit from a 0 score than it is to rebuild it from a 480-550.

If you ever need any help i'd be more than willing to give you some tips.

and the site shirlene gives wants a credit card to start a "trial offer" of credit protection service.

If you go to annualcreditreport.com you get a free report from the government. you can do this one time per year

I know how the questions work because I've done those for customers in the past but NONE of the questions pertained to me... I had tried annualcreditreport.com but they couldnt give em my equifax report either, probably because of this SSN BS :(

As per the car title... my truck A. was pretty worthless and B. Broke down.... had to take it up the @** and get a financed 02 mazda 626 (which doesnt report to credit bureaus:mad:)

It's so fucking impossible here to build credit, it seems the only way is with taht card but my salary barely covered the expenses and I was barely making it through paychecks, let alone save for a deposit to open a secured card :( but my husband is working now, hopefully next paycheck we will open me a card with him as an authorized user and then another his for me as an authorized user that way we have "two" cards and reportings.... also I heard that buying things at Aaron's builds credit, so if I get like a couch and buy it for 12 months but really pay off in 6 months it gets reported to all 3 bureaus but not sure if it's true..... *sigh*

je swee la polly hoe
WTF are you and wTF do you mean?

Did you finance your 626 at a bhph dealer? If so go ask them if they plan to sell your paper off to a portfolio lender.

and its easy to decline...a no gimmick of any kind site is creditchecktotal.com too (theyre actually who I use and are experian based)...but theyre pricey...the cheapest is through usaa..but I believe you have to have an account with them..but I monitor credit...daily, you probably don't need to do that unless there is actual fraud going on on your reports

another is myfico.com but they are also equifax based...

its possible your file is so thin they couldnt generate a file nan....I wouldn't panic

mitch is right to a degree about an installment loan being as good...but honestly the other halfs credit didnt take off until I added cards to the mix

keep the cards below 10% utilization and pay in full every month before the statement cuts and you've effectively gamed ficos scoring models

if you're really worried about fraud I can dig up equifaxes executive customer service number which involves a real human being with authority to fix shit on the spot...rather than give you the 30 day (or 45 with additional info) bs that the frontline customer service reps give you

If she has anything it will pull a bureau. No matter if she has 1 line or 100.

The problem with revolving is the fact if you're not careful and get too much even if you keep utilization down it can throw up flags of rapidly increasing indebtedness.

Besides, even with a small limit cc helping her score it won't really do much for larger purchases anyways.

Best thing you can do is save your money up for a downpayment on a decent auto. There are lenders out there that will finance first time buyers. Your rate. Is going to be high so put down 20-30% and shoot for 24-36mo term and pay a lil extra per month to offset the high rate and within a year or two. You will have a good score with payment history on something substantial.
