Why on a keto diet

is fat the majority of calories? Is it just a matter of fat being cheaper than protien, or that protien alone would convert to glucose?

It's far more complex than that.

Read Mr. X's articles either here or @ MassMonsters.com

He explains it all in great detail!

Like SC said, it's way more complicated then fat being cheaper than protein. However, yes, you are correct - fat is the majority of calories.

read my CKD manual

Right, read the sticky. Mr. X has done a great job of making them very readable for novice bodybuilders who do not yet possess a great deal of background knowledge on bodybuilding nutrition. Part of it is due to keeping both carbs and protien in check in order to maintain ketosis.

I read Mr. X's CKD manual, and it was going fine until I got to the part of protein having a 58% conversion rate to glycogen. I had NEVER heard of that one before, and did a search to confirm...

Does that mean if I theoretically ate a 100% protein diet at maintenance levels I wouldn't get into ketosis?
Great article, by the way!
