Why are squats considered #1? Anyone can solve this mystery?

I find that most people that don't think squats are that effective, are just afraid of the ass kicking you get when you do it right. It's the "there must be an easier way" approach to bodybuilding.

I think your right.

functional exercise

a squat is one of the most basic movements the legs can perform. it combines balance, strength, coordination, and speed (in some cases). it involves a great deal of the body's musculature to perform and if one area is weak, it will affect the whole movement from being performed correctly. so for a beginning weight trainer to an expert, it has its benefits in building or maintaining a foundation.

Hello all!

Anyone enlightened out there can explain this mystery?

Theoreticly the reason why Squats are so productive is because of the weight you use, right?

Well, when you do deadlifts you use much more weight. In my case its like 2x of squat weight. Also shouldnt leg press be far superior to squat since you could load much more weight (like 5x of your squat weight) and do 2x then reps?

So why is leg press inferior?

anyone can explain?? Where is Sherlock Holmes?

reply please!

Thanx!
Happy New year!

haah..you are the funniest troll I've ever seen on this board..haha

I've pulled a 70,000 pound firetruck for 75 feet once...but it doesn't make that movement better than squats.

Come on..man...you can only be funny for a while.

To calculste the actual amount of weight that you are using in a leg press you take the amount of wieght and multiply it by the sin of the angle. 45(sin)800 times the force of gravity 9.8 meters per second times the hight it is moved maybe 1.5 feet convert all of that into feet and there you go or something like that. Squats are superior period. the entire weight is transfered through your entire body because the weight is on the shoulders bringing your entire posterior chanin of muscles involved includin shoulders the entire back, hips, legs , abs ect.witha leg press you only use legs. Its a pretty simple concept if you think about it. Get out of the leg press and start squatting:confused:

Actually, you were close, but not quite right. If all you want is the apples to apples weight comparison, simply multiply your weight on the leg press times 0.707. For example, if your leg press was 1200 pounds, then you are actually pressing 848 pounds.

For those of you math wizzes that want to see that worked out, GRIMMER was very close. In the 1200 pound example, the formula looks like this given that "A" is the vertical component of the weight on a 45 degree incline.

SIN(45) = "A"/1200

by cross multiplying you get...

1200 x SIN(45) = "A"

by doing the math...

"A" = 848 pounds

By the way, as you can tell by my namesake, I'm a big squat fan. Keep trying SSidiot, you'll get it someday. ...or not.

evil man...you said "SIN". i come to this board to get away from trig and physics and what do you do? invade my relaxation time. hehehe. bad bad man!!!

guess its a message that i gotta get back to my homework anyways. <sigh>

stability ball, physio ball, ab ball, swisser ball. round thing with air in it. between 45 and 75 cm, colored.

just a little bigger than the ones i put on your forehead.

hehehehe. here you go. 135 on a stability ball, supposedly he can do 225. its hard enough for me to get both feet on and do one with bodyweight without pitching off of it.

Maybe we should learn how to balance like a ropedancer in a circus and do our heavy squats on a rope 30 meters above ground level in order to get even more stabillizing muscle/ neurol activation / GH release.

In any case one should get more adrenaline release this way...
