Hey girl! I'm trying to lose some weight too, so we can be each other's support lol... But I was looking at the foods you had in mind for your diet and just wanted to add some info that might help:

**Have brown rice (I'm filipino and I know it is weird to switch white rice to brown rice but girl, it keeps you full longer!!)

**Quaker oats are really good for you but have protein with it; try almonds with your oatmeal for satiety

**Have whole wheat bread- Make sure it says 100% whole wheat on the package and when you look at the fiber content, it has at least 3g of fiber listed- this will keep you fuller longer as well.

Do some weight training because muscle helps burn more calories, which will help you lose weight more effectively. If you wanna try a DVD to help you, I Love, love, love turbo jam!!! You can get it at beachbody.com. The DVD set has kickboxing, ab sculpting, and a total body sculpting workout. It's a great program to get you started or a nice change in your workout if you're bored with the same old routine.

Good luck girl and I wanna see your progress!!! :)

Hi flipican, i am a member of "bally total fitness" so i got my schedule im started doing cardio from mon-fri every morning.the things i do the most are ,urban rebounding,cardio/sculpt,power flex,hi/lo & sculpt, straight up step and reaction cyling which is my favorate the most. i do some weight training too.
well...about my diet thing i can't stand the taste of brown rice which is i tried it today for my luch with boiled fish.and now thinking to switch over to white rice just eat moderately a 1/2 cup.{im a freak rice eater}
i think drink plenty of water before you eat your meals its help also to avoid eating too much because you feel fuller already. yes quaker oats{old fashioned} is also healthy. btw nice to meeting you, knowing that there is also a pinay like me here in this forum......:qt: :)

I have a sister here with me :)
Well, I think that 5 days a week of cardio is a great start! Just remember, if you want serious changes in your body the recommended workout is 90 minutes of cardio (get the heart rate up for that long). It doesn't have to be hard core/high intensity because you're just starting, but make sure you have a sweat going on!! :qt:

The only thing I can also suggest is a change in your diet. I know it sucks and it is really hard, but 20% of weight loss comes from your workout and 80% of your total body transformation is diet. You can workout and workout and never see the results you want if your diet is bad.
You know what I did to get used to brown rice? I did half brown rice and half white rice and slowly increased the brown rice/decreased the white rice over time.
I know, I know- rice is a food group in itself for filipinos, but believe me, the change of the type of rice you eat will benefit. Try the 1/2 brown/ 1/2 white thing and tell me if you like it.

I have lost 70 lbs and it took a long time. I had to teach myself how to eat properly and stay motivated. Feel free to message me at anytime girl- I know I'll be doing that on days I am feeling lazy!!!
But give yourself just two weeks of serious dieting and working out. You'll see a small change and will stay motivated- that's what happened to me and I haven't looked back.

**Pinay luv!**

That much cardio is completely unnecessary if your diet is right and you are training with heavy weights.

Doing that much cardio, especially steady state cardio, without a SOLID lifting program in place - will cause SERIOUS muscle loss. Not to mention the fact that a clean diet - high in protein - should be in place then too.

Less muscle = lower metabolism, lower metabolism = harder to lose BF

In fact, you can lose BF without ANY SS cardio - just implementing HIIT, heavy lifting and a clean diet.

Thanks for chiming in on that, Daisy. I was about to!

90 minutes! OUCH!!! There'd be nothing left of me! From what I know, 60 minutes should be the max, and I was doing 60 minutes when I was 185 lbs... I dropped back to 45, 50 minutes once I got down to 165 and lower, but there are a few days I'll go 60 -- but stop there!

90 minutes is like a 15K race and even those people don't run that more than once every few weeks leading up to it! :)

This made me laugh. I'm Indian and it's the same way for us. My parents are horrified when I tell them I don't eat rice every day. Looking back, I can't even tell you how many cups I must have put down daily growing up along with rich curries to soak it all up.

As for brown rice, try different seasonings like Mrs Dash extra spicy or salt-free mexican seasoning and also try cooking it in low-sodium chicken or veggie broth. You can add mushrooms, peppers or other veggies to it or even 1-2 tbsp of good oils like olive or flax oil. You'll get used to it over time!

Daisy_Girl, How much weight should a beginner use in order to get fat burning results.

I'm 5'3 160lbs.

Diet 90% all raw other 10% meat (because I'm a diabetic and I need the protein)

Do you mean how HEAVY the weights should be?

If so - heavy enough to be challenging by the last few reps. You should feel VERY tired after weights - energized from a great workout, but muscles are TIRED.

Explain how this work work need2.. Im Intrigued :)
well when i joined the army i was 230,after my training i was 145 6 months latter.I eat 3 very large meals a day just about any thing a wanted to eat and ran about 15 miles a day.nearly 100lbs in six months and all i did was run.few push ups and sit ups but pretty much just run.so i guess i just experienced it first hand.

I have just started to run again my self and have lost 30lbs in the last few months so it works for me.I tried all the other crap bu i guess just getting out there and running on the rode works better then any thing for me.

of coerce its more or less "calories in calories out"that takes the fat and weight
of.I running helps me with the calories out part.
