Hi!

I am invited to a wedding this weekend for someone I barely know - i went to school with her and we were acquaintance at best...never more than that.

I suaully just give cash. Would you do this? Any other ideas?

Give cash - amount dependant upon your income level.

lowest I'd go, and i don't make shit, is $50

how much cash do you normally give?

It totally varies.

Family usually enough to make them debt-free or $10K.

Friends...I suppose $1,000 to maybe $5,000 for a really close friend.

I always give cash. We usually just assume that the cost of the hall is $100 a plate. You always want to cover your plate. So I would say $100, if you are going by yourself. $200 if you are bringing a date.

How's the place? Is it an evening wedding? What day is it? If it's a friday, sunday or saturday afternoon, than less may be acceptable.

Wait, i just read this thread again. $1,000! Holy crap! That's so much money!!! If you are that well off, then I would give maybe $200-$300, nothing more. You don't really know her well, anyway.

Shit. My wife and I are renewing our vows soon. You want an invitation?
I'm also inviting MTS to any future wedding after persuading him that I am indeed a close friend. In fact, I think we are related?

was discussing with a co-worker today and she said when she gets married, she is going to register her wedding at Bank of America.
