Update on my bodyfat after wanting to throw electronic scale out the window.

I don't know if anyone remembers but about 2 or 3 weeks ago I did my bodyfat on an electronic scale and it was saying I went up to 23% bodyfat. I was so depressed about it and alot of you guys said to toss the f'n thing out the window which I did. Well today I went and had my bodyfat done with calipers and was really pleased to find that it read 10.2%. We did it 3 times just to make sure and yes it is at 10.2%. So this is just to say that i am very happy and am on track again. Bodyweight is at 260 and have 6 more weeks on cycle to try and hit 270. Wish me luck!!

No, No, No, I said throw it off a bridge, pull ur head out of your ass. :D That must have been great to hear bro. Good Luck with the rest of your cycle, keep us posted.

Those scales are a goddam scam. One of the fattest ladies at my gym, a real cow, was bragging that she tested only 15% bodyfat on one of those scales. One of the owners did a skin caliper test on her and got 41% bodyfat. My wife who is lean and mean and a competive bodybuilder tested 21% bodyfat so how do you figure?:p

Good luck CC,
I know your a determined man, so you'll hit 270!

congrads big boy , i'm sure that you'll hit the 270 mark. and at 10% that is awsome.
I hate those fucking scales , any time you have to enter you age and hight it is gonna fuck ya.

I'm gonna try to find a tank somewhere and try the hydo.

The most commonly used electronic scale is the Tanita one. If you want to get an accurate reading you have to make sure you have it on "athletic" mode.

It has two modes: standard and athletic. For anyone who has ever done any exercise beyond lifting the TV remote control the "standard" measure is useless and is accurate only on overweight people.

I have found that my measurements on the "athletic" mode are about the same as with pinch tests. If your gym is like mine the staff will want you to use the "standard" mode. INSIST on using the athletic measure and you will get more satisfactory results.

Measuring body fat is and art rather than a scioence. Perhaps hop on those scales three days in a row to get an overall result as the measurement changes everytime you use it based on the impedence.

YES!!!!!!

But even the original "regular" ones can still be used!!! Jump on it at the end of the day, after you have been on your feet for at least a few hours and haven't had much to eat in a while. YOU WILL GET A CONSISTANT MEASUREMENT. I did not say accurate, but consistant. Nevertheless, this will show a trend, and, while it may not be great at estimating body fat %, you can draw up a somewhat linear relationship between what the calipers say and what the scale says.. Then the scale will give you an idea of what your body fat is.

My suggestion is to take readings once a night or so.. But under the conditions outlined above. Now, if those readings go down 1%, then it's fairly safe to say that your regular body fat may have decrease by some %.. Like I said, find the relationship between the calipers and the scale.

Lastly, by what method (what sites) were you tested with calipers?
