Training for a bench press compeition

I'm 18, weighing 180 right now.....I have a bench press competition in 2 months and I'm going for 415. My last P.R. was 350 a couple weeks ago.....Just wanted to let everyone know, maybe it will motivate some people.... To be an animal, first you have to train and eat like one!

I know my bench numbers are not that high, but you have to crawl before you can walk...

Read NeedSize's 5x5 sticky up top. In two monthes it should increase your bench press a lot.

Also is that 350 BB or PL style? Do you drive your legs and lats the way you should?

I'd have to disagree...the 5x5 is a bodybuilding routine. What he really needs is a strength one. Here's a good routine a friend of mine had really good results from:

I've been setting strength records regularly since I began Needsize's 5x5 routine.

What you may miss is that only "modern" bodybuilders don't seem to train for strength. Traditionally bodybuilders were enormous strength athlete. The theory was heavy weights made big muscles.

Sure it's for bodybuilding, but when i did it i got huge strength increases.
You could also try training westside.

Good luck, but realize that a 65 lb gain in 2 months is pretty tough to achieve no matter what routine you follow.

I was under the impression the 5x5 was actually based off power-lifting techniques which use a 5x5 concept.
