Heard this quote on TV yesterday. I forget the name of the guy they were interviewing about this, it was his quote. I think it's true and I hope one day things change, but I doubt it will.

so are you saying you prefer a parliament sytle of governance?
even then it seems to boil down to coalitions, which is really pretty much the same thing as what we got imo

I think just about any model will boil down into us versus them.

For me, I don't really care what it looks like as long as it's properly restrained. Any form of government has to be implemented by people and as long as they have personal interests it's always going to come down to maximizing their benefit.

The only way to fix all the stealing in government is to make sure there is less to steal.

It's unfortunate that the checks and balances on both sides have failed and taken over by the crazies and the rhetoric.

I don't like the rhetoric either, but checks and balances won't fix it.

Picture this: We're going to burn through $3.7 trillion dollars in 2012. People are going to want a piece of it. I don't blame them for stealing and misappropriating it like they do -- it's just human nature.

What gets me are the people who are morally outraged when someone puts their hand in the till. And the best ones are those who complain about corporate America buying the votes they need. What else would you expect?

Yes, but should it just be accepted as standard practice or should we try and correct this system. It is easy to give up, people in other countries would assassinate people over things like this. By stealing money that could better help our country, it is directly hurting it's citizens.
