The "damn it" moment

I know for most of you this isn't a big deal, but today was chest day. I finish the flat bench and I just hit a personal best of 195 woot woot.
As I move to the dumb bells, I notice this chubby guy. As I look over to him, this seemingly unathletic guy is lugging 140lbs dumb bells. I'm thinking no way, this guy is benching benching 140lbs free weights....And I think to myself damn it
took the wind right outta my sail!
 
I hate when old people are like super strong. I'm 18, I get done with my bench, I'm feeling all good because I just did well, then right next to me some old guy just out did my weights by like 20 pounds. Damn It! I thought old people were supposed to be weak, this dude is throwing up like 240! He repped his 5 times just like me. Then he looked at me... I could feel this gleam in his eye like he was proud that he had beaten a young guy... one day old man, one day....
 
Old muscle that has been used for a life time is strong muscle. I have learned this in my life. The olrder a get the stronger I get. The more grip strength I get. I learned a long time ago do not fuck with old guys.
 
Yeah for sure. I have seen these old black guys with hair falling out putting 4 plates on the bench press like its another day at the gym...

and there is nothing more satisfying than for one of us "old guys" lifts more, and looks better than you younger guys.. good to know it gets to you..

Now, often someone that is smaller or not as strong should look to that person for advice, or motivation if nothing else, most guys are not as arrogant as you may think.. but please please please do not interrupt my workout, just wait til we are in between sets... when we give advice, take it, do it, or don't but don't tell us we are wrong.. we've been here a little while and only recommend what has worked for us..

You hit a new PB, be proud of that! Who cares what another guy is doing???? Focus on the positive of the day...

Besides it's all about the mirror, not the number on the dumbbell/bar
