The Bodybuilder's Gift???

I believe, for the most part a bodybuilder has been given a genetical gift. The gift is, the bodypart the he or she doesnt have to put hardly any effort into and they grow. I have been given the gift of good arms. I dont even really work them out and they are bigger(unsymetrical) to my other bodyparts. I know two friends that have been given the gift of great traps..(upper back). I believe we also have a body part that is geneticaly challenged. I have traps and upper back that struggle along. I wish I had towering traps like my friend. For some reason lifters that were blessed with a great upperback stand out from other lifters. Even those that have the geneticaly gifted arms. Any body else have a geneticaly gifted body part???? Also, any one else have a stubborn bodypart. :D If so what do you do to achieve a well balanced body?

I like this topic. Nice post bro.

We are all different and we all have individualistic genetic predispositions. That is what makes our sport special. It is the epitome of an "individual sport." I think that a bodybuilder should look at his physique as a sculpture. The way Michelangelo would look at the physical proportions of "David" when it was almost complete, and decide which areas needed further attention.

A balanced physique will always be superior to a "mass monster" in my opinion. And I think it is this balance that should be the ULTIMATE goal for all of us serious competitive bodybuilders.

For me..., my entire upper body has always been "easy" for me. But it came in steps. When I was 15-16 I had great arms and delts, because my main goal was to look great in a tank top, so I put a HUGE focus on bis, tris, and delts. It worked..., but I ended up looking like an ape of some sort because I had NO CHEST and NO BACK. lol Ahhhh, to be young and stupid, right?

So after a few years of determination, my Chest was/is now one of my best bodyparts, by far. My back still gives me trouble. I have issues getting the density I think that I need for balance.

My most "pain in the ass" body part has always been my legs. Again.., after 18 months of determination, my quads are one of my best body parts now. However..., I have really long Achilles tendons, so extreme mass on my calves is a gentic impossibility. I do have good shape to them, but they will NEVER be "huge calves" because my genetic structure will not allow it.

Bodybuilding is a continual evolutionary process bros. Give yourself an honest assessment once per year and set new goals for the next with regards to which bodyparts you think need improvement. Eventually, you will achieve a balanced physique. It only took me about 14 years. :)

I think I must have been over looked when these genetical gifts were being dished out :( haha

Dont know how long you have been lifting, but I am sure you do. I have seen people in the gym who just started training and have great calves already. My son who is only 3 years old, I believe will have towering traps. I can just look at how his shoulders and kneck are built and tell, If he trains when he gets older will have great traps. I guess its in our genetic make up. Look at women, how big thier quads get from little training. Im sure you have that bodypart and just havent figured it out yet. Who knows maybe at your gym thier is someone already jeolues of your upperchest devolpment.ha,ha Or you already achieved perfect symetry and the joke is on us...ha,ha

Haha I'm just kidding mate. I've been training for about 7 years, mainly circuit training and cardio. I play a lot of football (soccer) so speed, balance and stamina were my main focus. Been hitting the weights for about the last year and am seeing some good development in my upper back and shoulders but it's still early days. I'll come back to this thread in a years time and i should have more of an idea! Haha

i like this thread idea. for me, def. traps and neck. before i started lifting i had pretty much an ectomorph build with some decent vascularity. but my neck was always very big in comparison with the rest of my body. i rarely even work out my traps if im not on a serious bulk because they blow up so fast. i never understood it, its like they inflate right up when i train them, like they get pumped and dont go back down. light or heavy doesnt matter. then they slowly deflate when i dont train them. i dont think i have a lacking muscle group, but i do have lower abdominal fat and love handle fat thats almost impossible to get rid of

I'm still technically a beginner, but I can tell you that I have baby arms and my chest is kinda lacking. My legs and traps/back seem to be growing at quite a nice rate though. My biceps flexed vs unflexed are literally almost the same thing. Its sad.

Calves! I've worked out my calves (directly) about 3 or 4 times in my entire life, and not once in the past 15 years. They're slightly over 19 inches cold, with decent definition I might add.
My weak area: delts....but working on it a lot lately.

Well the greatest bodybuilders have several genetic gifts in that they have long muscle bellies, favorable fiber makeup, small joints, on and on. If you wanna see a freak show as far as having genetic advantages in certain muscle groups look at Casey Viator. His biceps looked like they had no tendon at all. Sergio Olivia was another good one.
