Tell me about your digital camera....

I'm in the market to replace my 3.1MP Kodak. I've been looking at either a Canon Powershot or Nikon Coolpix. My price range is around $500, give or take a little.

I'd like to know what you have, if you like it, and why you chose that one over other models.

I have a old kodak 2.0, I only use it at parties so I couldn't care about quality. you probally are looking for something above 3 mp so this post isn't really gonna help you ....

Those retail for like $1900 dollars. Way outta my price range. I have camera envy now, though. LOL.

Yeah, 5MP and up is where I'm looking at.

the eye can't distinguish anything over 4MP, the only reason you'd need anything higher than that is if you're looking to make 10' by 10' prints @ high quality, or you do a lot of proffessional photowork, photoshop stuff

Or if you are lusting after the newest technology... which I am. I am torn between a 5MP that is a coupla hundred bucks or the newer 8MP that is way more pricey... but it's EIGHT MP.

What about optical zoom? Is more better or is that a wash after a certain amount, also?
