Nearly killed myself squatting some days ago... I was going for 4 reps with about 390lbs (175kg), ass below knees without a spotter (I know that was foolish). My first two reps felt ok, but at the bottom of my third rep I totally lost balance because of my left shoe (regular jogging shoes) that failed to support me. Guess it must have looked like a combination of squats and lunges
Anyway I have decided to invest in some good shoes for squatting, and I was wondering what kind of shoes I should buy?
Until I get the new shoes I was thinking about just squatting without shoes, like I do deadlifts. Do you think that is a good idea?
