should i lose weight first??

hey everyone, im a new member so please dont flame.:) im 5'6 166 with about 20% body fat so im kinda chunky. SHould i keep liftin and do light cardio or should i lose the weight first and then start lifting?? I also want to get a six pack. i dont wanna sound gay, but i want a body like a Men's health model. Thanks.
 
lifting will increase you metabolism longer and more permenantly (adding muscle) than any diet will. It will change your body forever. LIFT!
 
so lets say you want to be somewhat fit and muscluar at around 10% bodyfat so at 166 you have 33.2lbs of fat altogether and need to lose half of that so gain about 20lbs of muscle and then cut down.... so my guess is that you should lift untill you reach about 180 and then diet down and then see what you think...
 
Lifting is the best fat burner in my mind. Plus the more lean body mass you have the more calories your body uses.

Number one is good clean diet. Good carbs. No high glycemic foods(except after your workout)

So definately hit the iron and do 30 minutes of cardio after. You'll be ripped in no time.

I would go heavy on the cardio say 4 days with 2 days of total body conditioning type lifting. No huge weights or drop sets, just get the ball rolling. As you get closer to your goal drop cardio to 2x a week and start working your compound lifts (deads, squats, bench). You can't go wrong as long as you are doing something positive! Good luck!
 
is there a right answer??? SOme people tell me to lift first, some says, diet first?? what is the right answer or is there a right answer??? thanks
