ok im into powerlifting but im training wit my cousin and he likes bodybuilding. id rather train with someone for heavy benches and spots even if i have to do lil exercises u know... here is my routine.

monday-chest and triceps / reps
bench press 10,8,6,4
hammer strength incline press 8,6,4
cable crossovers 8,6,4
close grip bench press 8,6,4
pulley pushdowns 8,6,4

tuesday-quads and calfs
squats 10,8,6,4
leg press 8,6,4
leg ext. 8,6,4
db one leg calf raises 8,6,4
seated calf raises 8,6,4

wednesday-back and biceps
front pulldowns 10,8,6,4
bb rows 8,6,4
hammer strength pulldowns 8,6,4
bb curls 8,6,4
db curls 8,6,4

thursday-delts and traps
military press front 10,8,6,4
cable side laterals 8,6,4
upright rows(med grip) 8,6,4
hammer strength shrugs off deadlift machine 8,6,4

friday-hamstrings and calfs
stiff leg deadlifts 10,8,6,4
standing leg curls 8,6,4
db one leg calf raises 8,6,4
seated calf raises 8,6,4

this includes warmups.

most of us here train westside barbell style or at least something close to that. many of us give little attention (direct work) to biceps, quads, and chest. if you're looking for a big bench, bodybuilding workout probably isn't going to get you there. if you want to bench in the 300 area then by all means, but if you want the big numbers you might want to change some things around.

That looks pretty much like a normal bodybuilding workout. Go to elitefitnesssystems.com and read all the articles. If you still do have any questions, just come back and ask.
 
I agree this is a typical BB workout....doesn't focus on directly incresing your lifts or weakpoints... checkout the info here about WS and you can start using some of them now and later use more once you understand it more and how it can help your lifts....

btw, what part of MIA are you in?
 
ohh i know all about westside. i have been reading there articales for a long time. its just with my cousin he wount like it cause he'll ask like "what about rear delts" or "my lower chest needs work too" crap like that. i like working out with him so id like to like keep the split but maybe what do more bench sets and less like cable crossovers etc. im have just been training again for 3 weeks and im almost at 300lb bench so i dont want to stay there..lol i think i have a great future in powerlifting , but u know there has to be a way to workout with him and still get powerlifting style strength..

ohh in my kendall area dawg. like u know where the falls movies is? on 136? i live right there
 
Miami is a fun place to live although it seems like everyone here is interested in bodybuilding not powerlifting. I am in the North Dade area.
 
big calvin, Yea I know exactly where that is...used to live around there...Now i moved way down to the dirty south.... Homestead :D ... But maybe sometime we could get together and train...I w/o at the YMCA down here by Harris Feild.. but Im up that way sometimes... If anything PM me and we can talk.... Later...

I agree 100% I havent found ONE person at my gym, or anywhere around here, that worksout for strength only...One dude is pretty close and benches about 420 at 225lbs, but even he says things like" his tris get a better pump by ...", So im pretty much the only one around doing powerlifting or pure strength training..Even some of the football players come in but they are doing like crazy # of sets and working chest/legs and back on same day...crazy w/o's!! How far North you at?
