Rounded Back GM's...?

b fold the truth

Elite Strongman
Platinum
The rounded back variation of good morning that is recommended is the EXTREME
GOOD MORNING. These should be done with an empty bar or very light weight. The
idea here is to thoroughly stretch the spine by bending over to where your head is between
your knees.

Do the Extreme Good Mornings very slowly. Hold each repetition at the bottom
position for a short pause. On your first repetition you only need to go down to
parallel. On each succeeding repetition bend over a little further. By the fifth or sixth
repetition you should be down as far as you can go. Remember, do all extreme or rounded back good mornings
very slowly. If one straightens up too quickly the spinal column can take on an action
similar to snapping a whip or flicking a towel. Too much of this kind of stuff can be bad
news for a good healthy back.

B True...you know you are like a brotha to me...but what the hell are you doing in that pic. And your buddy is even worse. Why in the world would you ever need to go that far down...I wondered why your weights were that low when you posted your workout.

Powerlifting or Strongman...makes no difference...when would you ever be in that position. IMO...no need to ever go that far down. No wonder it didnt feel comfortable.

swear I sent you the videos...

Dude you are going way too low. Just go down to where your torso is parallel with the ground. Also, get a little knee bend in there. You wnat to give yourself a little bit of help in the leverage to move more weight.

Just happen to be watching the WSB Videos (that I sent you)...Dave Tate is doing bent over gm....spine should be parallel to the floor.

Are far down as you two were going it was almost some kind of lat pulldown, while standing on your head, to keep the bar from coming off your shoulders.

I thought that we were supposed to go down till we could put our head through our knees? As deep as possible?

It was a very strange position for sure...didn't feel right at all.

Yeah...I have the videos...but thought I remembered Chuck V goind really deep on these...

Well you almost got it right. Chuck was doing that...but he was doing "seated" goodmornings at the time. PLUS he is the only one that goes that deep on seated gm's. In the video he was using 550+ for seated good mornings and putting his face to the floor....dude is a FREAK.

Thats like saying "whats George H. do for bench?" Unless you are him you probably will get hurt...better get insurance....
