Question about weight for comp

I know I shouldn't stress about the scale weight under usual circumstances, but I'm concerned about getting into the lightweight class at competition. I haven't lost any weight according to the scale since I started cutting, although I know I've lost hella bodyfat.
I'm 5 weeks out and at 133ish. I need to be under 125. Is it normal not to have dropped actual weight by now? When should I expect this to happen?

Keep in mind that you can expect to drop 8-15lbs of water alone during Peak Week......so don't stress out about it as of yet....

When is the comp again??

I've noticed a trend like that before -- I constantly use my experience last year as evidence of teh importance of your bodyfat vs your weight -- last year I went from 24% to 15% bf & dropped 2 lbs -- my body's "set weight" is around 165. I'm doing the sme thing this yr -- still aroudn 165 but fitting in my size 4-6 clothes right now. It took me a whole shitload of cardio & 7 weeks to drop down to 145 and then dropped to 139 via water depletion the last week.

I would just keep going after it - is your current weight sort of the weight that your body likes to stay at? (Like that has been you rweight for a long time, regardless of your bodyfat?)

You are very close so the water thign shoudl help a lot but for the weight class, you definitely want to get in at the top part of your weight class and not the bottom part of the next one up. Cardio & carb cyclinig are what the difference for me -- so just keep pushign it and don't get freaked out... :)

so around 10 lbs. is an ave loss during peak week?
the comp is July 8th Jens

That makes me feel a little better Sassy. Thanks. My current weight, 133 as of yesterday is within a couple pounds what I've been for the past year, even though I have significantly lowered my bf.
Guess I'll just keep pluggin' along... :)

Yeah I lost about that much in the 7 days prior to my show.....

You doing BB right?? Otherwise I'd say don't worry about it for Figure as that's more of a "look" but with BB you've got to make a weight class.....

I wouldn't assume 10 lb avg -- esp if its the difference between hitting your target weight class or not - but I think you should see that change -- esp if you are jacking up your cardio or whatever big changes you are making. Basically you've managed to drop a shit load of bodyfat & preserve your muscle mass, which is cool. I wish I had a better understanding of why the body has those sticking points, but it just seems to be that way until there's a significant change in the energy demands or a different addition to the program -- last year - buildng up to 2 hrs cardio /day every day was really what did it. This year the same bodyfat thing is happening w/ teh weight staying at the same place for most of it, but I haven't been hitting the cardio as consistently as I would probably need to to see that big weight drop.

yup jens...bb

Yea Sassy, I'll probably add in a few cardio sessions pwo in addition to what I've been doing in the mornings. I'm also planning on dropping the fat in my diet starting Monday, so maybe I'll see a change with that in the next few weeks.

Unless you are tracking bf WITH the scale - the number is useless

In the case where you have to make a weight class, weight is important. Its not drop down dead important unless you are at a national level competition - usually women's bb classes are pretty small. But it may make difference.

You might want to get start working in 2 cardio sessions / day to make sure. You are really down to the last weeks here and if you aren't seeing your weight moving you might want to be more safe than sorry. This is of course my opinion, but at this point, you are either doing your show or not. You don't have any time left to fuck around so I'd serioiusly get those sessions in.

Also diet -- you said you are going to drop the fat from your diet? What does that mean? How does that change your ratios? What happens to the carbs & proteins?

Thanks Sassy. I'll start doing extra cardio.
About the diet...I was thinking I would continue to carb cycle until the last week..so my carbs would stay the same as they have been. I've been upping my fats on the no carb days to make up for lost cals. I was planning on not doing that, and maybe upping the protein a bit? What do you think?
