On the road again......

Hi, just wanted everyone that gave me some encouragement the other day, i started back hittin' the weights today with a little more fire- in- my- pants than i have in quite awhile. i actually did legs today. i noticed my strength has decreased somewhat, but i'm sure i'll get it back. now i'm just taking baby-steps with the diet. if you have any feedback, here's what i ate today:
5:30am- 1 Yoplait yogurt (fat-free) i was running late for work so i grabbed that quick.
6:30am- Mocachino with 1% milk
10:30am- 6 saltine crackers (that's all i had available)
11:30am- 1/2 of a sub left-over from night before, big plate of salad w/ FF dressing, 1cup of coffee with a little bit of lowfat milk
5:00pm- (after workout) 1 apple with 2 tbsp. of peanut butter
7:00pm- (i'm making it now) 1 chicken breast with steamed veggies and a potato.
Now go easy on me i know this is not ideal, believe me i know from my "previous life" as a competitive bodybuilder. BUT, other than my nonexsistant breakfast, and the be gap between 11:30 and 5:00, is it extremely bad? Too many carbs? i don't want to get in my eating disorder habit of restricting everything so i try to eat a variety. You think too many calories? What? Please TALK TO ME!!!!!

What type of diet did you use for competition?

Your calories seem very low for today and high in carbs... you need more protein girl!
If you aren't eating enough your body will hold on to every ounce of fat it can.

kel :)

that is a really awful diet.THE ONLY THING WORTH KEEPING is the chicken breast-eliminate everything else and add in fish, turkey, brown rice, oatmeal

Ok Kel, when my life revolved around the gym and bodybuilding it was easy for me to do what I had to do, i was in the gym all day training and teaching. I'd do cardio before i ate in the early am. My first meal would consist of oatmeal and egg whites, second meal usually a protein drink, third meal either tuna, chicken or turkey with either a yam or sometimes rice (on a higher carb day) My fourth meal was another protein drink, my fifth chicken or fish and a fiberous carb (i usually stopped the starchy carbs after 3 or 4, 5 at the very latest. Then i would do some more cardio in the evening before bed.
Now jump to this life; i work in law enforcement my work day starts @ 6:30am. In my facility i don't have the luxury of being able to bring food with me 'cause they won't let me. Sometimes i manage to sneak a protein bar in (in my pants!) We can't even drink water throughout the day because it's not readily available and we are NOT allowed to bring our own. Basically i work in Nazi conditions, not condusive to a healthy lifestyle. So i am real limited in my ability to eat every 2 1/2-3 hrs.
I hope this doen't soound like a "cop-out" (no pun intended) but i really do appreciate any suggestions. i'm trying to balance the two lifestyles. Thanx again.

What's wrong with this? Looks like a great plan!
You are going to have to modify it to fit your schedule. There are many single parents who work and have to find childcare yet still get it (workout & diet) done. :)
Most of the girls (guys too) agree about planning ahead.
Cook 6 chicken breasts at once, get tuna in a pouch, protein powder is IMO better than no protein at all.
If you have time for Mocachino, you have time for a protein shake.
You must not be from America- because there is NO employer in this country that can limit the water intake of any employee.
Sorry if this is harsh but I'm just stirring the old pot. ;)

Kel, you're right about having time for a mocachino vs. protein, there's that "Swift kick in the Ass" i was looking for.
As far as the work & water thing, i've had to bring it up to my Union. I even had a Dr.'s note (you believe we're dealing with adults here?) saying that i needed water 'cause i am chronically dehydrated. They STILL wouldn't let me have any. They want us to drink from the same pitcher of water as people who have HIV, hepatitis A & C and god knows what else.
So that is a battle i'm fighting right now. Thanks for your honesty. i think i've been making excuses for too long now.:D

Not to be a complete ass, but is that sort of environment worth it?? You might consider one of those Brita personal water filter things if you have to drink from the communal pitcher.
