Oatmeal

Ok I really am learning about my diet and it is so much better than it has ever been.
But one thing I just don't understand:
Why would eating 1 cup of oatmeal 5 times a day help you bulk?
Its all fiber how does that bulk you up?

Hey,

Oatmeal contains fiber but is no means ALL fiber - its full of carbs. Its also low GI which is preferred to high GI, generally. Bulking is all about excess calories - oats is an easy way to get those extra cals.
 
Oatmeal is loaded with good carbs and protein. My first meal consist of 1 cup oatmeal and a protein shake, this totals 540 calories and 28 grams of protein. Think thats pretty good for such a small amount of food. BTW, the fiber is just a plus.

oatmeal is an incomplete protein, dont count it towards your protein consumption.
 
timtim is right dont count on the protein. count it as a complex carb and high fiber. I love oatmeal, lowers cholesterol,estrogen helps keep you regular and is packed with long lasting energy. I eat it three times a day with my current diet. I have a meal on the road I just put 3/4 cup into a coffe grinder and turn it into a powder to mix with my protein.
 
Well the only reason i add the fiber one is for some extra fiber because it's helping me go to the bathroom more often lol. lately i haven't been able to go much and ever since i added the fiber one i go to the bathroom everyday
