Newbie to Dieting - Seeking Assistance

CHRlS

Hello Everyone!

My name is Chris, I'm 24 years old, 5'10" and 220lbs. I work from home and get to the gym at least 5 days a week. I used to be at a very fit 175lbs though highschool when I played football, but since then, my nutrition and physique has declined to something I am tired of looking at.

I am knowledgable with cardio, workouts, and necessary information that would be needed in putting together a diet / cardio / workout plan, however I do not know anything about nutrition and am in desperate need of assistance.

Why I say assistance, is becuase I am currently putting all of my time into my internet business from home and do not have extra time to spend hours on message boards to educate and put together my own diet / cardio / workout plan.

My local area lacks of personal trainers I like, and I have a thing with dealing with a personal trainer in the weight room anyway (I just like working out alone for some reason)

All of that being said.... I am praying that somebody that has been down the road of cutting body fat and going from an overweight physique to a very cut and lean build. I am not wanting to "bulk up", but rather "slim down" and get my abs back, and get rid of my body fat.

Is anyone out there able to help me directly in taking on the task in educating me on nuturition / diet plan / cardio / working out? I am willing to pay for this help if need be. I just don't have the time to put it all together on my own, due to my internet business taking up all of my time at home on my computer.

All the best,
Chris

Read Pintoca's stickied post at the top of this board. He lost 50 lbs., you want to lose about 45, it's an excellent start; he's included links to calculators and samples of how it goes together:

My question is, if you don't have the time to do SOME research and put some thought into planning your diet and routine how do you expect to have the time to go to the gym five times a week? You could learn enough in two hours reading stickies in various forums on Elite to get you going for the next couple of months ...

Hi

See my warrior diet thread. I aint gonna say any more than that because sincerely, i don't know what people here think of it. But if what happened to me, happens to you...

Good luck.

Sounds interesting. I found the link and it looks like the only way to get the meal plan outline is to buy the book, is that correct?

Could you please explain how it affected you over the 6 months you said it took to change your life? Curious how much weight you lost, and if you included any supplements, flax oil, dextrose, etc... along with a workout/cardio routine

Can't wait to hear from you!

Hi Chris

I am no expert but i'm glad to be of help. I'm just gonna ramble a bit, put down some thoughts or experiences and I hope it's useful.

You're right, the book contains meal plans and recipes although i didn't follow these at all. You don't have to.

I follow the basic, fundamental principles (and much of the peripheral 'spirit' of the diet. Basically, throughout the day - every day - i take nothing but fresh 'live' fruit and salad - whether whole or liquid. Bro, i NEVER EVER thought i would be doing this but the results are phenomenal. 'Conventional' eating has more or less finished for me. The most unbelievable thing is that what the book said actually happened - after the first week, my body totally got used to the idea. You feel so light, so full of energy and actually able to do more. The whole point of the diet i guess - work/play hard during the day, relax in the evening.

A VERY IMPORTANT POINT - which i tweak as and when is necessary = as Ori himself points out, anybody who starts to do even more than the average working-out/exercising will start to need SOME protein, even during the day. I started doing a lot of cardio and increased my boxing. So, eventually I did feel the need, as the book said would happen, to take a bit more protein during the day, but not much more. To reiterate for the last time, literally, it's fruit and salad (esp. the green leafy stuff) until the evening meal.

As far as exercise, always to be done during the day. Preferably, i did it in the early morning. I didn't follow his actual exercise plan although i think it makes perfect sense. But basically 1 hour every morning of cardio. In the late afternoon, i did a normal run-of-the-mill weights program...not exlusively geared towards strength training like his is, but along those lines...

Finally, the evening meal. The crucial points which I follow is exactly as the book says - you don't have to seperate your carbs from your protein BUT if you're specifically looking to lose fat, you should. So...again you start with a salad, then have your protein and cooked hot vegetables and finally your carbs. In the begining , I used to eat huge amounts of everything which the book said would happen. After the first three months, my appetite began to go down ( i don't mean in a bad way)

I couldn't take the supplements but didn't feel the need. I will come back to you with how much i was and what i am now, i'm crap with that stuff! But like i said, about 1 and a half stone...

Heh, i know this is starting to sound not much like my original statement about 'following it to the letter'. But as far as the actual diet is concerned, that is true.

Aint gonna bore you any more, pal!

Have a good one...

So what exactly is 1 and a half stone in terms of how much weight you lost? I'm just really curious of some "real examples" of how much weight can be lost from this.

It looks like i'll be heading to the bookstore tomorrow to pick up his book and start putting together my plan together.

Do you eat about 5 - 6 times a day with this diet? I ask that, being as I read everywhere that eating 5 - 6 times a day is best for my metabolism

Hope to hear back from you. You've been extremely helpful so far!

The warrior diets seems a bit severe in calorie deprivation for bodybuilding.

With protein requirements what they are for bodybuilding, and dieting greatly increases protein needs, I would most definitely pass on this diet.

Muscle perservation would surely be my goal, not weight loss.

In order for anyone to be "heard" in these days, they have to be somehow very different. This for sure ranks in that category.

I understand, mate. Just wanted to say that i don't do bodybuilding, and don't know anything about it.

All I know is, for me, the warrior diet was the sole reason for my weight loss. And it seems to be complimenting my desire to get faster, stronger and more,
how to put it - heh, 'wirey'/durable....
