Thanks for the feedback to everyone that replied. To be honest I really don't give a shit about the 50 bucks and it is definitely not my motivation for training, but I think the bet will just make me push myself that much harder.
It's easier to reach a goal when you have one set! Right now I'm thinking my chances are pretty good..... I have always done my max presses after pullups, rows, etc. so my chest is usually half gone. Soon I think I will switch around the routine to bench first and adopt more of a powerlifting approach.
If you clean up your technique, you may be able to add 30 pounds today. When you get on the bench thrust your hips up and slam your legs as far back towards your shoulders as possible to create an arch, but keep your ass planted on the bench. Then pin your shoulder blades together and hold them tight. This reduces your range of motion and makes a stable base, while protecting the shoulder. Take a grip with the ring or middle finger on the grip marker. Bring the bar down to the base of the chest (sternum) and go straight up. Don't do that "J" shit like some people say. This should add some weight right away. The rest you'll have to do the hard way.
I have a quesiton about the whole rotator cuff thing. I was benching last week, heavier weights than usually and my shoulder popped. I am no in pain except when I bench. I have full movement of my arm and I can do almost all excersises no problem except bench press. Anyone experience this before, or any ideas on how to heal?
WHAT IS YOUR WORKOUT LIKE...I DID A EAS BENCH PRESS REGIMEN AND IT PUT ON FIFTY POUNDS IN A MATTER OF SEVEN WEEKS. THIS WAS FIVE YEARS AGO AND I REMEMBER I WAS THROWING UP 275 FOR ONE REP AT THE BEGINNING AND 330 FOR ONE REP AT THE END. IT CONSISTED OF A LOT OF NEGATIVES AND REPITITIONS AROUND FIVE. cHECK THEEIR SITE IT MIGHT STILL BE AVAILABLE IF YOU TRY EMAILING THEM...
Mike001..YOUR wrong as hell...don't even try to flame on me kid.....it can be done if you weigh 230+ starting out and just needed the gear to give your pussy ass a kick, but someone under 200lbs would have a problem!!!!!
