Making Bodyweight Exercises Your Framework

Legion Kreinak

Would it be possible to make bodyweight exercises (pull-ups, push-ups, sit-ups, dips and the like) your framework for training and developing muscular endurance? Though, I know no bodyweight exercises to work your back, I can think of them for everything else.

Maybe you should clarify it then.

Again, what do you mean by muscular endurance? And what do you mean by framework for that matter? You mean basing a workout around those excercises?

By muscular endurance, I mean being able to do multiple repititions without reaching muscular fatigue. And, by framework, yes I mean basing your training around the bodyweight exercises.

Then the answer to your question is yes. You can do anything you want. However, I don't see the benefit. What would you expect to gain from it other than to simply be able to do a lot of pushups and pullups?

All this is, IMO, is a variation on high-rep resistance training which has been shown to be much less effective for achieving muscle strength and size than low rep, heavy lifting.
