Lifting shoe choice

in muh stocking feet for squats and deads....

the plantar fasciitis is so bad in my feet I only wear asics pretty much the rest of the time...like..always

tho I did workout in some crocs sandals once because I forgot my shoes... *waits for someone to ban her*

I feel you on the fasciitis. I had that really bad back in 07 08 to the point that I couldn't walk when first woke up. I had to do ultrasound treatments to help break the scar tissue up.

take running shoes very seriously. if your shoes are worn and you run in them you will get problems come up. I suggest you go to a running shoe store and get fitted for one properly and try them out.. take your time and pick the right one.. it may take some trial and error but you will find the right brand for you.

i hate shoe shopping at stores where the employees work on commission or just don't know what the hell they are doing. so find a good one.. you aren't gonna go far buying $25 walmart shoes i can tell you that. so don't be afraid to invest in quality shoes.

also ask them how many miles those shoes should go before time to donate them. don't go over that mileage they recommend unless you want to run into ankle, shin, foot problems. (former endurance athlete who ran 45 miles a week)

Agree with everything. I was wearing the wrong shoes for years and never knew. Was running with stability shoes that had plastic pillars in the arches and causes my stride to hit on the outside of my feet, completely messed up my knees and shin pain was ridiculous.

Go to a running store and get fitted for your stride, size, and frequency of running.

I changed my lifting shoes at the gym when I decide to do cardio.

that worked? Ive had it for 5 years now...I had it with only mild flare up for about a year but then had my last baby and its daily/all day agony again

I got mine from 12-14 hrs shifts in tactical boots, then added weight with the thyroid cancer
its never gone away...course Ive never hit my old weight again either

^^^ have you tried acupuncture for it?

also i would experiment with traumeel injections. you can order the stuff online and its a liquid and you would inject with a slin pin in your foot.. it will hurt like hell but its non steroidal and all natural. or you can find an acupuncturist who will give them to you.. i prefer to inject myself though

can you point me in the direction of the traumeel injections steve?

I dont know if that counts as sourcing or not..haha

I havent tried acupuncture but got the most relief out of some excruciating myofascial release
when it was very acute I learned how to tape it and keep it that way all the time
I'd only un-tape to roll em around on frozen golf balls and to do my towel scrunches and crap

what sucks is its not limited to my heels...thats where it started of course but now its the entire sole of my feet

It took about a year of it. I had to go to medical every morning and the physical therapist would massage it then do the treatment. When I first got out of bed I would get a frozen can of fruit from the freezer and roll my foot across it then use a towel to pull the my toes up. It hurt but felt good at the same time.

They wanted to go with steroid shots if not surgery but said it wasn't 100% and it could cause more damage than it could fix so I said fuck that.

I've already discharged so I don't have to worry about humping all that gear anymore but I walk 8-10 miles a day doing what I do and get slight pain but nothing too bad.

yeah...I just grab my foot and pull before hopping out of bed and keep crocs flops and cros sandals next to my bed and always try to wear em for the first hr of the day
I also have to trash my shoes every other month

not that you have this problem but Id love to be able to wears heels with just normal high heels pain instead of being crippled for a week from it :(
I'd also like to run again

the military utterly ignored my feet..I was given stretches that was it

turns out my husbands current disc issue is the same issue they decided not to give him disability for too (dragged by a humvee taking on small arms fire)
got a 60% rating anyway...but idk. Im thinkin the DAV is gonna be the way to go to get them to effin treat it ya know?

oh well...derail....

off to google these injections steve mentioned

^^^ you can buy the traumeel out of canada.. they come in vials.. (there are gels, and ointments obviously but thats not what you want, you want the liquid vials of the stuff) not sure about a site that sells them (the one time i ordered it was a company out of toronto but don't remember the name and they took forever to deliver to me anyway so i wouldn't recommend them) but its 100% legal and its not a drug.. many holistic docs and acupuncturists do traumeel injections so just call around town, they won't sell you any though so if you want to do them on your own gotta find a place in canada that will ship to you.

i used to use the stuff before my 5K's and inject around my injuries, i would barely be able to walk and then the next day be running 5K's. it is non steroidal and will calm down the area from pain.. its almost like putting a cream on your skin but this is done internally.

and yeah it will hurt like hell to inject into the bottom of the foot, you have to spot inject this stuff. so i recommend icing down your foot and numbing the shit out of the area before injecting.

and plenty of rest. if the damage is really bad its gonna take a long time to heal. but in the mean time the traumeel will help.

you are very lucky you didn't go that route. cortico's will cause short term relief but will absolutely screw you up long term. unfortunately your best option is rest with Plantar Fasc. i had some bouts with it as a runner and i rested every time and it went away thankfully.. had i get pounding away then i would of created more damage
