Lean Bulker -- meal planning

Hi Guys,

I need some ideas for lean bulker meals after dinner. Because I'm on thyroid medication during the day, I'm a food burning furnace until about 4pm, but not in the evenings. I can't take any thyroid medication (Armour Thyroid) after about 4pm without it causing me sleep difficulties. :chesty:

What are you some common things you guys are eating in the evenings? The strategy of avoiding "bad" carbs seems to work well for me, but damn, it is hard sometimes. I've been eating broccoli, carrots, tuna, canned chicken (Costco), etc...need some variety.

I actually haven't started the lean bulker yet...doing some leaning out first, but I wanna work up a meal plan so that I can have my meals thought up in advance. It's way too easy to fall off the wagon when I just eat what I've got.

Thanks,
R1

Bump, i'm running out the door to workout but when i get to work i'll give some lengthy feedback. i am in your boat (the furnace that is, not the thyroid stuff. but i'm an ecto)

I'd suggest going to precisonnutrition.com and checking out the forums. They've got a ton of good information and recipes for exactly what you're looking for. John Berardi is top notch.

I have his metabolism advantage book... I got it for the recipes and it's not disappointing.

protien and carbs like chicken and brown rice, potatoes, fish, you might have to spice it up yourself a bit but stick to "clean" low fat high nutrient value foods. If you are trying to bulk up you are going to have to eat like crazy in the evenings or get some bulking powder to drink. Just remember to eat clean and don't forget your fruits and veggies.

bulking powders are crap...full of sugar / empty calories.

So you're basically looking for snacks between dinner and bed-time. I personally have a casein protein shake at bed-time. I'll also take some fish oil or flax oil. If I'm bulking, I'll throw in some all-natural peanut-butter. Non-fat cottage cheese is good before bed as well.

2 scoops protein powder
1 cup oats
1 tablespoon ANPB
1 bannana
2-3 cups skim milk

blend and drink. enjoy

mac and njmuscleguy got this one pretty good. i go with chicken or fish with some veggies, or different variations of nf cottage cheese. by different variations i mean tossings in different typse of lean lunchmeat and/or hot sauce. egg salad? i've gotten burnt out on scrambled eggs so i went to egg salad. two full hardboiled eggs, four whites, just enough nf mayo to make it wet and a bit of relish for extra flavor. relish; high sodium, i know, so watch the dosage. but this shit aint half bad
