Lat training for powerlifting rows and pulldowns

I just hit a flat bench raw 405 touch and go, I probably could have gotten 5 or 10 more pounds. Anyways I know that powerlifters mostly do rows for the lats (I have been doing a ton of them lately) but is anyone sure if rows are for thickess and pulldowns are for width.

I know the theory of rows for thckness and pulldowns for width has been perpetrated in bodybuilding for years but I am starting to see some value in pulldowns now where I once dismissed their effectiveness in powerlifting. I currently do a 2/1 row to lat ratio, that is 2 sets of rows for every set of pulldowns- what do you think?

Pull-downs, Rows, Chins - I think it's all the same. Pull-downs can build thickness just as well as rows and rows can build width as well as Pull-downs. The most important thing in my mind is to hit the back with multiple exercises and at mutiple angles for complete back thickness and width. Mix it up and hit it hard!

screwball is definately right. what you need to really concern yourself about is changing things up. however, wide pulldowns will pack on width, while the closer ones will give thickness from my personal experience. just use lots of different bars on the pulldowns and change your grip spacing and go overhand or underhand. CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE!!!

good job on the bench,i told you you had more in you.....i think pulldowns, rows, chest supported rows,..or whatever are all good choices.it's also good to just change up and hit the back with all the different choices.......i go by feel when i do back, sometimes i do the bent over orw and don't fell shit, then i have to switch to like lat pulldowns or maybe even d/b rows in stead of the bar, then i feel it in my back.....have to go by feel......just my .02:)
