I posted awhile back about my girl friend who is trying to lose weight. Well I thought i would post again and tell what she is doing so far (which isnt working..lol). For about 2 months she has done the elptical machine for a half hour twice a week and a hour on the weekends (sometimes walks on the treadmill instead). Her being overweight (which isnt that bad) doesn't bother me but it bothers her a lot. With her being in college and having to drive a half hour to go to school she doesn't have the drive to really bust her ass every other day for hour. I try and tell her that she has to have the passion to lose weight. I just don't what to do for her. Any advice now...lol im lost I thought maybe some weight loss pills from GNC might help but she has tried that as well...

Thanks ladies

How is her diet? Without a proper diet, nothign will work.

Yep, diet's 80-90% of the effort. W/o that, it won't matter what she's doing in the gym.

You can try and help her all you want, but SHE's the one who's got to do it. She says her weight bothers her, but does it bother her enough to set some goals and follow through? A lifetime of bad habits can't be erased in two months.

Rather than being down on herself for what hasn't happened in two months, she should be congratulating herself for doing 2 months of workouts. Now she needs to up the ante and set a new goal. People who look good have to work for it, and for the few who seemingly don't, time and age will eventually catch up with them.

Is she doing any weight training? If not, print out the Sticky "Why Women Need Weight Training" at the top of this board for her. Is her cardio challenging enough? As she's able, she needs to increase her intensity - "walking on the treadmill" will not bring dramatic results.

As for being short on time, in college, etc., we all have our crosses to bear - full-time jobs, husbands, children, sick parents, community work, etc. Everyone gets 24 hours in a day. If she wants it bad enough, she can make time for it.
