Introducing myself! :)

Hey, everyone! I'm new here! I stumbled across this board because I really want to get in shape! I'm 23 years old and in the worst shape of my life. I'd like to thank a torn MCL for that. Grrrr! Anyways, I used it as a lame excuse to be lazy for a few months... but not any more! I'm tired of it! I've been lurking around, reading posts, and I love how supportive everyone is with each other!.. so I just had to introduce myself. :D All I have been doing lately is Tae Bo Boot Camp and a little running. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a gym, just a couple of dumbbells, DVDs, and other equipment (mainly bands and crap) laying around the house. My main interest right now is losing some fat (my abdominal area just LOVES to hold on to the squish! ) and I wouldn't mine gaining a bit of muscle (or a lot hehe). I took my measurements on Tuesday so here are my stats:

Height: 5'6"
Weight: 129 lbs
Chest: 34"
Waist: 26" (the highest it's ever been... depressing!)
Lower Abdomen: 33" (BOO!! Really want to get this down!)
Hips: 34"
Thigh (largest part): 22"
Knee (smallest): 14:
Calves (largest): 13"

I've always had chicken legs hehe. I'm looking forward to learning tons from you all, and hopefully I will be able to help others out one day! :)

well you just hang out here there,s lots of good people on this board that will give you good info on any questions you have:)welcome

Howdy and welcome!! What's your BF? Let me speak on behalf of um, me...this site kicks so much ass. Seriously, please...look at my gallery of before/after of just 4 weeks...what you see is a result of the wonderful network of people motivating, encouraging, guiding, and alllll the positive influence. Yea sure i was the one in the gym...but on my broken finger...i swear i would have NEVER reached that point without all the supa fly chicas on here helping and cheering me on. As weirdo-chic as it may sound...these people have really played an ENORMOUS MASSIVE HUGEMONGOUS role in changing my lifestyle for the better. Warning: the personalities in here are addicting. ;)

(gees, you'd think i was getting a paycheck for this)

Welcome aboard lady. Best of luck!

HEy W2BL -

Welcome to the boards! You found the spot! Like the ladies said, lots to be learned here! Definitely *DIET* is what will drive your ability to drop bodyfat. Training without access to a gym is definitely doable. Don't dis the bands! Those are a grea resource. Also I'd highly suggest getting a fitball -- they run abou $15-20. Also you can do lots of leg work doing the motions of say a squat but without the squat bar & rack. Also lunges, walking lunges, up & down stairs and of course all sorts of cardio options. Pilates is also great.

If you can, get your bodyfat tested. This is a much more meaningful number than your weight. And also can you post up your daily meal plan - what you eat, how much & when you eat it. That will give us a context to start talking diet. And also read the stickies at the top of the board -- Shadow's Project & Project Summary have programs that several of the girls here have been following -- will give you an idea of how a good diet & trainign works.

Hey, everyone! Thanks for the warm welcomes! :D I don't know my BF right now or have a place that I can get it checked. :( If I order calipers is checking it myself possible? As for my meal plan, I currently don't have one.

I do eat pretty healthy (IMO, but I could be totally wrong), but after reading all of the stickies, I have noticed that I'm not eating often enough. I also don't eat enough protein. Luckily, I don't have a problem sticking with lean sources of protein, healthy fats, and fruits and veggies. :) I'll start logging my meal plan on Monday. I have a busy weekend ahead, and I need to go grocery shopping, but Monday I will be able to start fresh.

Sassy, you mentioned pilates... I have the Winsor Pilates set, but I get bored doing it. I haven't done it in a couple months. I will definitely start doing it again if it is so beneficial. I just never felt I got much out of it... probably because I didn't do it consistently for more than a couple weeks.

I should take some pics and post them so you all will know more about where I'm at, since I don't know my BF. Would that be helpful?

ooh... and sorry for rambling on and on! I'm just so excited to have people set me straight when I'm royally screwing up! lol
