I have done it. In my twenties I did it without ever coming near steroids. I am now in my 40's and have done it with help from my doctor and his prescription pad. However I am currently AAS free, and have been for half a year, and am once again losing a bit of fat while maintaining my weight at least.
I have never been huge - my best is 6' and around 215 with single digit fat percentage. So take it for what its worth - what I call lean and muscular is different from someone who only thinks of Flex Wheeler or Ronnie Coleman. Anyone who laughs at the fitness model look or who says THE ROCk is small, would laugh at me.
I did it naturally when I was 25 - trained 4 days per week with weights. No cardio. I was a poor student finishing a grad degree at the time. My diet daily for 4 months was : 4 eggs and a piece of toast with butter for breakfast, a quart of chocolate milk and 4 McDonalds hamburgers with extra catchup for lunch, some fish and broccoli with cheese for dinner. I might eat something different when if I went on (a very rare) date.
I had a roomate in the same educational program as me who did roids. We parted as enemies after 2.5 years of sharing a house. I followed this deit and training program for a semester just after we parted ways. He saw me once at school without a shirt on and asked me if I was doing anabolics - which I wans't.
Now I am in my 40's and have to do cardio to keep near 12-15%. I have a local doc who wrotes a scrip for AAS and then I can get to the single digits. It sucks getting older. Damn it sucks.
