Hey I was wondering if u can help me work out a diet plan. Im looking to lose 10 lbs. Im 5'5" and 120 now....I go to the gym 4-5 times a weak and do 45 minutes of cardio and abs. Im a vegatarian and Im living at my dorm room, but I generally eat in my room...not at the dining hall.

Thanx

If you are male, you are quite thin-in any case the veg diet is not good for appearance because it's hard to get enough protein and you usually end up with way too many carbs- causing fat and lack of muscle

Well if this person weighs 120 and is STILL looking to lose 10lbs. I think we can safely assume we're dealing with a female.....

Dice is right though....you really do need to get that protein into your diet...you can always supplement with protein powder can't you?? Or is that a vegan no-no??

Yep, Stryc, it's a vegan no-no.

Whey is dairy, and so is casein. You can go with soy if you're vegan, but we all know that's not so effective for building.

If you want to lose weight but retain muscle as a vegan, you're ... SCREWED, I think. If gaining a little poundage is okay, you can eat LOTS of peanuts and peanut butter.

That's a good, non-animal based protein, but very calorically dense.

I'm vegetarian, but not vegan. I'll eat animal products, just not the actual flesh. It's helluva lot easier.

Veg-head, you're giving "tell-tale" signs, I'm afraid! (Maybe I'm overly vigilant for the signs. If so, I apologize.)

5'5" and 120 is very trim. Losing 10 lbs ... why? Also, you eat your meals in your dorm room? That strikes me as kind of sad! Eating alone is usually a red flag for body/food "issues".

Yeah, I'm probably reading too deeply. But what I've learned about college girls (having been one not too long ago) the safe money is ALWAYS that there are indeed problems. I mean, you can't believe how epidemic it is.

In college, I used to have to go to the health center a lot. My skin was yellow from just eating carrots. I was fatigued all the time. I pee'd unconrtollably (a grown woman peeing her pants!) because Diet 7-Up substituted for food at meal time.

Anyway, the health center pretty much shipped me off to the room for the starving girls. They had a very "oh look another one, YAWN" attitude. Didn't give me any check-ups or do any procedures. They just said: EAT. (Though I lied, and said I did.) But they were right.
