I went to cracker barrel tonight for a turkey dinner with devin. I have no idea why but I burst out into tears in the middle of dinner. I'm a very happy positive person usually. I never behave like that or even feel like that usually. I have NOTHING to cry about and I can't even begin to tell you why I did that.

Well, anyway, then I was feeling all emotional and went to wal mart. I saw the Angel tree there and all those little cards on the trees. I was compelled to go look and I thought about what a big baby I was. There are parents of the kids on this tree who can't afford to get their kids a coat this winter. These kids were asking for coats.

So, I grabbed every card that was left on the tree and maxed out my only credit card. 19 ipods, 13 coats, baby toys, good god I went nuts. I shouldn't have done that. I shouldn't have done it at all.

Before I even left the store, they had filled the tree back up with kids who need things to even have a christmas.

that is sad.

Well, this is actually pertinent to the thread. I am indeed a insecure individual who wants control. So how did I deal with this? Working out, eating right, and developing a funny sense of humor that makes almost anyone I meet laugh. By focusing on these things it has hleped me be able to be the guy who pulls the hottest chick in the bar pretty consistently. I also manage a clothing store, which stems from be gaining the control i want from developing a great fashion sense as well. I am also not ugly so combined with all this is how I got to the social level I feel I am at.

so do you feel in control? this is kinda off topic? but seriously though i understand why the idea of control is so appealing. i mean who doesn't want it, but there is an ease and sense of freedom when you learn that you don't always have to control everything in your life, that you can't be in control of everything. ultimately other people have control over our lives. you live to serve others. you serve your boss, you take care of your families and kids. your money comes and goes to others. the government controls us, ect. besides how can anyone claim control when you have no idea what tomorrow will bring.

the idea of letting go of control is big in buddhism. I find that helpful.
