I am reminded why it is that I do NOT straighten my hair!

Rottenwillow - Vidal Sassoon makes a ceramic iron that ran me $30.00. It was recommended to me by my gf who is a hairdresser. She's been coloring and cutting my hair for a few years now and we have similar hair textures.

I did my hair curly yesterday. When I looked in the mirror I seriously said out loud, "And I wanted to straighten my hair...... because?!"

LOL

Velvett - my sister is like you: pinstraight and NOTHING... and I mean NOTHING will help it to hold a curl for longer than about a minute and a half. My oldest daughter has my sis's hair color and texture - thick a heck and pin straight, but it is soooooooo lustrous and shiny. Everytime I look at it with that fucking god-awful chemically fucked up hair that her father fucked up for her I want to cry. It has been one year that he messed it up and it is still only about 6" off the top.

I wish it was only her hair that he messed up and not her head.

OMG.

Have you tried a CHI?

Its the best investment I've ever made. I could go to bed w/ my hair wet,
wake up the next morning and use it, and it will look so slick and sleek.....

the stars use it.

I like big hair myself. ;)

Yes, she is the 12 y/o that I began the other thread about. She had BEAUTIFUL (as they all do) elbow length hair - shiny, lustrous, pin straight but thick as a mofo. He freaking turned it ORANGE by "giving her highlights himself" when she was ELEVEN!!!! then had to have it RE-DYED by a professional to make it a more normal color essentially frying it necessitating having it cut up to her chin!! Not only does she have the height and weight of a 16 y/o (we are nearly in the same pants size and her feet are bigger) but now the appearance of one as her hair is obviously chemically altered!!!! The only reason I have not cut it very short (which would flatter her face tremendously) is because it would surely make her look much much older.

She seems to have pulled her head out of her arse since she knew I was serious about ejecting her from OUR (meaning mine and the kids' place) apartment. I never EVER make empty threats. I choose my words carefully so as not to make an ultimatum that I can't back. Anyways we are all working through some issues - her narcing and snitching on her siblings to get her dad mad at them and now the "reverse"-type sitch happening. I guess now the younger ones are feeling like they can "get her back" in essence... but I put a stop to it by saying that I would not hesitate to eject ANY OF THEM if their behavior was such that it warranted such punishment.

You guys should hear the fucked up phone conversations the kids have with their dad. He will pump the oldest for information and play on her feelings then he will actually get cold and downright mean to the younger ones that wont have it any longer. They stay strong to him on the phone not tolerating his bullshit, "Dont you miss me and love me anymore?!" but as soon as they hang up the phone they are noticeably shaken... "Mommy he hung up without even telling me he loves me." I tell them that if their daddy continues to just end the conversation and tell him that they will talk to him tomorrow. Pretty hard to do for a little kid... He is just straight up fucked up.

BIG DIFFERENCE from when I was only allowed extremely minimal phone contact w/them. If they were ever upset for any reason I would just say, "Baby, I can tell you are tired... I know you love me. We'll talk tomorrow. Be a good girl for daddy and get ready for bed. Love you." It would tear me up inside but I always felt worse that they were put in the middle then how I felt as a mother missing her children....

C'est la vie. He made his bed and now he will lie in it ALONE....

Thanks for all the hair comments, by the way LOL

"MamaWerd" LOL.... I like that.

PS - What in the world is a "CHI"?!

I got a ceramic iron but the fucker is deffective my mom got it for my bday she has to exchange it. The one time I did use it I loved it. My hair dresser had been using the ceramic on me for sometime. It feels so soft and makes it shine like crazy. My sister in-law is my hair dresser has this new straighting system I am considering trying they use a ceramic Iron in the process hair stays straight as can bee for almost a year, but it cost $500.

isn't that the japanese straightening? i considered it but it leaves you with NO body. totally pin straight hair. i THINK thats the "chi" straightener system that someone mentioned in this thread- i looked up "chi hair" on google and a very expensive hair 'straightening system' tool came up. i'd like to try the ceramic straightener.

Nope they use a serious chemical for that. This is new I forget where it was developed but you can still colour your hair etc. The Ja[amese thing you can't do anything with it. I have seen a few of her customers that got it done. Hair still has lots of body and if they use a curling iron or something still stay curly etc.

I use a straightening balm before blowdrying my hair, then use my flat iron every day. I love it. My hair has a mind of it's own with a bit of a kink, so it has to be put in its place! I had short, short hair for a long time, and now that it's longer I need my flat iron to keep me from hacking it off some days! Dunno what I would do without it now.
