how many hours before sleep should one stop eating to prevent uneessacary fat storage.

some people say to have a slow digesting protein source before bed and others say to quit eating like an hour or two before bed so it doesnt get stored as fat.

what do you do, and what do you suggesT?

keeping in mind mygoals are to get fucking monstrous with minimal fat gain

anyway...

I think that's an old wives tale. Most of us around here stick to proteins and fats before bed (example...ANPB and chicken.... chicken and olive oil with veggies... ANPB and a protein shake).

If you want carbs do it... The ONLY reason I avoid then a few hours before bed is because they're brain fuel and it will keep my mind awake then i can't sleep and i'm on this damn thing all night.

I gotta agree with Sarge, as usual. The old adage "Eat when you're hungry" is what's important. There's alot to be said for not eating carbs late as they won't be utilized as efficiently as they would if consumed earlier, which you likely already know. It's ultimately based on an individual's metabolism and lifestlyle though. If you're not sure, start conservatively on the carbs, which for some people is after 6:00 PM, and then notice what happens when you carb later.

I actually eat my last meal in bed....On the pillow so to speak......and thats no joke. Its mainly due to my training...I'm done at 6pm and need 4 meals including my pw shake before bed in order to meet my macros and put on lean mass......so thats 4 meals in 3.5 hours.

I think the main reason the "no food X hours before bed" is based on the fact that, in the evening after dinner, people are more likely to snack, say on ice cream which puts them over their calorie limit for the day, thus promoting fat storage....

I eat my last meal (ANPB) sitting in bed.....

Exactly what Jen said... plus the fact that most people have already hit there calorie limit by the end of dinner (not likely if you eat clean like the majoirty on here but...) if you put in perspective people who hit the vending machines often, or eat out once or twice a day etc... or so thats what I've read and hence thats why they come up with the "don't eat X hours before bed"... I also have my last meal and then crash right away usually (egg whites and almonds or PB)

I eat something semi-healthy right before bed. If I don't eat I can't sleep, and sleep is more important than eliminating the 150-250 calories from my diet.

Another thing about the carbs is that esp if you are on a very clean diet, the carbs can make you stay awake and then crash. I tend to not feel good after carbs unless I'm up and around.

If you do eat carbs later in the day just try to make them complex and fibrous over simple/starchy..

Like everyone already said, the average person will have ice cream or some candies after dinner instead of our green beans and chicken breast :p

As I'm sure someone already beat me to this, but..experimentation is the key here..

I literally eat on my pillow as instructed. this is my 4th meal since I am done training which falls around 915pm, training ends at 630pm....so its about 250 carbs in 3 hours....yowwwww.......

I am scheudled to have 8oz of flank and 3 egg whites. About 50g of protein and 20g of fat....today I'll have 6oz of dry curd 2tb of pb and some mashed up walnuts....same difference but its a fat meal.

Then, if I ever wake up during the night, I am suppose to eat protein, usuing just a blend of pudding and casein. I got to get some more protein delite....shit is the BOMB!

98% of the time I have 2 tblsp. of ANPB, crunchy....

Sometimes tho, I have cottage cheese + sliced almonds or a handful of nuts.....But I prefer the PB.... :p

That is a great combo, I do the same but add a little chocolate protein powder to it to satisfy my sweet tooth. Sounds gross but it gives it a great texture. :p

Actually its not bad as long as you get out the hand blender and whip it all together... besides that its not too tasty...
Another good one is protein powder and some SF/FF jell-o though, NOW that is tasty :p PLus you can add in whatever else (a TBL of PB, chopped nuts, etc)
