How long to train for????

I go into the gym and work out for 30-45 minutes and leave before those who were in the gym before me. Am I doing something wrong here? I feel that I train hard!

When I train biceps I get pumped after only 3 sets of standing barbell curls and stop. When you get a pump, does this mean you've trained enough, or should I strain myself for more sets and exercises?

Am I just lazy???

I don't get it!
:(

When you can no longer sustain a pump it's time to leave.
Have you ever noticed that you'll have this awsome pump, so you head to another exersize. After the first set or two the pump will be gone.
Also, dropping the weight just so you can continue to do more sets is overkill. For me, 6 work sets fries my bi's.

I am only in the gym each day for 40min to an hour topps(unless I am doing cardio) I get great results this way.

It really depends on how you spend your time while in the gym. What I have done over the last couple years is find a good workout that progresses over a 12 - 16 week period then take it easy for a week or two and then change to a new workout program. 30 minutes is pretty short if you ask me. Make sure you work every muscle group at least once a week. And I suggest always start off with some cardio. That alone should take up the first 10 minutes! Set goals on everything you do and make sure you continually work towards them. If it's hard to stay motivated get a lifting partner. GOOD LUCK, BRO!

Hey Amigo,

When I was weighing three hundred at five eleven, I would start out the workout with cardio, about ten to fifteen minutes to get the blood moving and open up my vascular system a bit. You have to have adequate blood flow and old boy was right about starting out the session with cardio. I always used a Dorian Yates perspective to training, using one to three warmup sets, and then one to two sets of super high intensity lifting. I would only use three different lifts per bodypart. Once that type of training ceased to give me the gains that I wanted, I moved to a regimen of higher repetition exercises untill my body adapted again. By that time, about four months in to my bulking cycle, my body was burnt and I no longer got the gains I wanted. I then stayed out of the gym for a period of three to four weeks, AND STILL I GREW. I constantly kept my body on the go and kept it guessing. I never once did the same workout from day to day. Don't allow your body to adapt to just one type of training, you will limit yourself greatly. Keep a log on what works and what doesn't and don't take everything you hear as gospel. We all have a different genetic pre-disposition and respond to different things, what works for one, may not work for another. Anyway good luck bro and best of wishes.

You should be able to knock out 2 muscle groups in an hour or under. Some people just talk to much in the gym whick keeps them there for 2 which is why I use a walkman o keep people from talking to me.
