how important is it to eat at consistent times?

As long as your meals are fairly evenly spaced out during the day (2-3 hours apart) does it really matter if I eat at exactly the same times everyday? Like yesterday I ate at 10, 12:30, 3, 5:30, 8, 10:30 (2 1/2 hours between meals), does it matter if today I woke up at 11 (sunday ;) ) and ate at 11, 1:30, 4, 6:30, 9, 11:30 ???

I think the biggest issue in regards to the times you eat is in relation to the training that your doing. Obviously you wouldn't want to eat -right- before you go to lift weights and do cardio, more like 1.5hrs before. Also the time of your last meal in relation to when you go to bed in somewhat important. But as long as your getting the proper amounts of p/c/f, I think you should be ok.

I also wonder about this since I often begin my first meal at different times of the day.

Another thing I wonder about is the harm of eating meals too close to each other, like 1 - 1.5 hours in between. I will somtimes do this in order to keep the schedule for the rest of the day.
