how do you deal with lagging body parts?

Do you hammer them hard?

work them twice as often?

Add more exercises?

I want to hit my back twice as often as i usually do.
Its only lagging due to half of my training neglecting it.
Im a bit worried i will move backwards by doing it too often.

anyhelp?

What i generally do w/ a lagging bodypart is give it priority, both in the workout and in the week. So if my back was my lagging bodypart, I would work it frst after my longest layoff, and first in the workout.

My chest was lagging, so I began working it mondays and thursdays. So far the results have been great. It doesn't look much better (I have some bf to lose), but my bench has gone up. I keep the movements simple...incline, flat, weighted dips, flys, crushers. That's worked for me.

I don't know if I would do back twice a week. When I needed to get it going I only worked it once a week. I'd say keep it simple, go heavy, use perfect form. Make sure you're doing deadlifts, heavy BB rows, and try adding some pullups. Your back should respond in no time. Goodluck.

For lagging bodyparts I usually hit them more frequently. For example, my calves were slacking only being trained once a week. I upped to three days a week and have since seen great results. However, muscles like abs, forearms and calves you can get away with training more than once a week. If you try this with, say bi's, you may yield some gains at first but the muscle will soon become overtrained.

So try it, but watch out for overtraining symptoms then change it back.

There are a million different ways that you can deal with lagging bodyparts bro... Ill give you some of the basics though that can help you out.

Prioritize... If your chest is a lagging bodypart put your chest first in your split and work it first in the workout. Your might even want to try singling it out on a day by itself to give it 100% attention.

Adjust Volume... Maybe try and increase the volume of your chest workout slightly while slightly decreasing the volume of the rest of your body.

Intenisty Techniques.. This one always helped me out a lot. Supersets, trisets, drop sets, prexaustion, all will force your muscles into new growth. J

Just change things up bro and STICK TO THE BASICS!! Be more specific which bodypart is lagging and maybe we could suggest some exercises, routines, etc. Good luck!
