How do I know if i'm lifting heavy enough??

I can only bench like 150. I just started working out and i'm a weakling. I always see these huge guys in the gym with 3-4 plates on each side of the bar and it gets kind of discouraging. I want to make sure I'm getting the most out of my workouts but I never know if I've actually maxed myself out. Usually when I leave the gym, I cant do one pushup for the rest of the day. Are there any tell tale signs that let you know for sure that your workout is done?
 
dont worry about how much weight other guys are doing, just worry about yourself. only way to really tell if your doing enough weight is if u can u 8 reps but not 9, and 3 full sets and not 4. its trial and error at first to find the right weight to use on different lifts.
 
you will learn to push yourself hard. Get a good spotter and have him lift you heavy and until you go to failure and he has to bail out, then you can be sure. Only you know if your using enough weight.
