Help - dont have a clue

turkey bacon is good, no there is nothing wrong with eating bacon, it can fit into your diet. If you want a snack, eat a can of tuna! Try to avoid the bread, or whatever it is that is on your "sandwich"

I'm not sure why clean is recomending to leave off the bread. I will tell you that rye bread usually has more nutrients than white or wheat. There isn't anything wrong with bacon. The reason I was suggesting something leaner is because, IMO, you will need to up your calories considerably, and leaner food items will give you more calories for protein and carbs before you overdo it and get fat. Protein is the main thing, as you mentioned, but carbs and fats have a place also. Carbs give you energy, but the big thing is they keep you from burning the protien. What I do for my snacks is usually have something small. If I'm not at home I will pack a half of a pb sanwich (partially because I can eat it quickly!). I use protein bars also. Some people will eat 6 small meals, I prefer 3 meals with snacks just because of convience. Just remember to have protein at every meal, as it is the only nutrient your body cannot store.

faller - cheers for the advice, basically what your saying is i need to up my food intake and do it with a lot more protein? I'm not a big fan of peanut butter, would nutella do as a sub?

obiwan9962 - I wasnt as lean as i am now about 2 months ago, i lost about 14lbs in chub because of the way i was training. Now i want to put the same weight back on but in muscle.

anyone - how do i know how much i need to eat? I'm 205lbs so how much calories, protein, carbs and fat should i consume?

Just for fun I did a harris-benedict for calories, it ended up with a litttle over 3000 per day. Then I, personally, would do 50% carbs, 30% protein, and 20% fat. Everybody is different so you will have to work with it a little.

I said avoid the bread because there are many other sources of carbs for a "cleaner" bulk or cut.

Ok nutella isnt really similar to peanut butter for nutrients. Could i just eat like peanuts instead of the spread?

I'm not really a tuna fan, got any other suggestions instead of it? I know every eats tuna for the protein.

Yeah nutella is kinda harsh, but peanuts are great! Actually, I can't think of any nut that isn't. I used to eat almonds a lot as well. There are all kinds of things to eat instead of tuna, it's just a matter of how you want to eat it. If you are making a sandwich you can use lean cold-cuts, use chicken or turkey in "salads", eggs are good protein (if you eat a lot you may want to consider using some as just whites if you are concerned about fat), cottage cheese is good and comes in a variety of fat levels, as does regular cheese (although most fat-free are nasty). One my faves now is ground turkey, which I use like beef. On that note lean beef is good. If you want really cheap really lean, get "Lauras" in the green package, but get the stuff that is on or near the "sell by date" its usually 30-50% cheaper. AND there's also yogurt. Hopefully you like SOMETHING in there!

lol cheers for your help mate. I'll go buy a huge bag of peanuts for after gym workouts. lol

I'm not really too big on cheese or vegetables or fruit. And really only like Haddock, but i do eat all other meats and usually in large quatities. I do eat eggs too. Should i change from a pasta thing to eggs for my post workout food? Normally i make about 6 egg scrambled with some chopped ham in it! Its tasty!

I'll go have a look in the supermarket to see what kinds of things i might munch with high protein. I could also get some protein bars and more shakes, although last time i had the protein bars i had 4 after each workout so that might be a little expensive.

Anyway thanks for the advice.
