hey guys i posted in the powerlifting cuz i think you guys have a firm grasp on this topic. I have a BP competition on thursday, so i've been preparing for a little while. Are there any routines you guys follow or certain things you guys do to prepare for BPressing? also my hands sometimes slip (i dont wear gloves) so is there some powder that i could use on them so i get a better grip?

Yeah, chalk for your grip.

As far as specific things PLers can do to prepare... Most experienced PLers will have a training cycle that helps them peak at the time of their meet. I don't know if you did this, or how much you know about training -- but obviously it's too late for this if your comp's on thursday.

You want to be well rested for the comp -- that mean sleep... and you don't want to do any heavy training between now and the meet for example. Only other thing I can think of is to carb load in the days leading up to the comp, and stay well hydrated.

according to the american powerlifting association rules:
"ONLY POWDER IS ALLOWED. POWDER INCLUDES CHALK, TALC, RESIN, MAGNESIUM CARBONATE, BABY POWDER, OR POOL HALL BLOCK CHALK. "

plain old gym chalk works. if you cant find it in a store, try
