Gyno surgery today!

2 Percs took care of the pain. It took me a month to get back to work (food service) and roughly 21 days for light lifting. Prolly 5 weeks before I felt OK to go heavy again.

what about people with office jobs? I thought food service was pretty light. Why so long to get back.

What did you do while you were recovering? could you drive?

I worked at a country club that required us to lift trays with up to 12 entrees which can get pretty heavy because they are extra large plates with steel tops.
I sat around alot because I had to keep the compression vest on for 7 days straight so bathing was very difficult and I started to stink. I had to have my gf sponge bathe me so I didnt get the vest wet. I didnt want to leave the house. My first full shower was so nice. I could drive after roughly 5 days and I did not have drains.

I was back to work in 1 week (medical job)..... Started walking for cardio right away, and was back in the gym in about 4 weeks, but didn't train chest for prob 8 weeks..... I basically went 4 weeks longer then my doc told me to not train chest.... Chest is one of my strongest body parts, so there was no real reason to start training it right away..... I did learn that Docs that do this surgery have to have alot of exp, and every case is different.... There is more to it then they let on, and an EXP surgeon is a MUST.....

I know everyone recovers at different paces...
This is what I can add.
My training partner had the surgery done last year. He had maybe an inch of tissue taken out from one side and a couple pea sized lumps taken out of the other. He also had the glands petrified so that his chances are much reduced.

He wore the vest for about 3 days and was back to work in his office the following week. He drove after the vest was off..

He was back in the gym 3 weeks later going about 75 - 80 % except on certain exercises.

wait a minute, you can't even take this vest off long enough for a shower? Oh good lord.

And now glands are being petrified as opposed to crushed?

Correct, he could not shower nor do much of anything while he had the drain vest on. But that was 3 days, and he was a little under the weather during that time.

He used the word petrified. I wasn't there and I have never had the surgery so I am only using his expression of it. I can check with him tomorrow as to what exactly was done. But I do know that two lumps were removed and a process was done so that gyno symptoms are greatly decreased.

with all of the cases listed in this thread, did anyone's insurance cover it? I remember reading a thread a few months back that all you had to do to get insurance to cover was to say there was extreme pain associated with it. For example, not being able to sleep on your stomach or something like that.

If you did get your insurance to cover it can you give us some details?

Thanks,
Cornfish

Some cialis and time... ;) Personally, I'd never go under the knife if I didn't have to - especially since the letro was working well for your gyno. I wish I had letrozole before my first gyno surgery...I would have never let anyone cut me open when I could use some letro.

Have to agree here... if the letro & nolva were working, I would've sacrified the libido for a few months if only to avoid going under the knife... plus, from what I understand, surgery doesn't ensure that all of the gyno is removed... so it can come back

That is you guys choice. I have been dealin with it for a few years and was seeking relief not treatment. That is where I put more emphasis. It did not put me out financially so it was the right choice for me.
