First post but I have been reading for a while. Never really felt the need to post because most questions were answered if I just kept reading.

I have just finished 8 weeks on the Old School routine suggested by Cornholio - and did pretty well I think. Gained 10-12 lbs. and 30 to 50 lbs on major lifts. What I've started now is kinda a blend of ideas that I've come across in two books - Dinosaur Training and Super Squat.

Monday
Squat 1x20
Pullover 1x20
Shoulder Press 4x5
Farmer's Walk 4x60 steps
situps 2x10-15
curls 2x8-12

Thursday
Deads 5x5,4,3,2,1
Bench 5x5,4,3,2,1
Pullups 4x4
Zercher Squats 2x10
side bends 2x15-20
calf raises 2x20

And that is pretty much it. I was planning on doing this until sometime in Dec. just wanted to see what some of ya'll thought about it.

Something about myself - I'm 29 been lifting seriously for about 3 years now. I live in Mississippi, am married with 2 kids(boy and a girl) and 2 dogs( German Shepard and Pit). I am also a high school teacher. I look forward to all and any replies- for the most part the people on this site seem to be fairly knowledgble and I cant wait to hear back on this.

only two days a week because I feel that I go pretty hard and both workouts are full body workouts so I probably will need 3,4 days to recover. Plus that's what was recommended in the book, Dinosaur Training.

i think if you do AR you could workout 3 times a week, I do on a full body program, especially if you have been lifting for 3 years

Looks like a solid routine to me. Similar to a routine I have done. You will get great gains off the 20-rep squats if you do them hard and heavy.

if you do the 20 rep squats right, you wouldnt have any energy left to do anything else that day. you would probably also be too sore/tired/whatever to do the 2nd training day for the week. if you want to do the 20 rep squats, just do 1 major set after your lighter warmups. do this 'routine' for 2-3 weeks at the most then try something else.

i've heard of guys that did the 20 rep squats and rested the rest of the week and ate a ton. a few ended up gaining 10-15 pounds. now those results may be rare, but i think it'd be fun to at least try this

just a suggestion

So you think he should only do squats? I agree that 20-rep squats are EXTREMELY tough, but I think he will still have the energy to do the rest of the workout. Especially since the rest is mainly upper body. Farmer's Walk could be a problem, though. I didnt think of that.

when i did the 20 rep squats, i walked out of the gym right after that, well tried to walk out anyways. hehe i was done for the week plus a couple days.

i've heard similar things from other people who have tried it. these will make you grow all over

well you maybe right - here it is Weds. and my legs are still killing me. Monday was the first time I have done 20 rep squats and as I start adding weight it may become to difficult to do anything else. as it was I had to sit down afterwards for about 10 min. and I still dont see how I drove home - you know that ear-blocked -ringing feeling, I dont know how to describe it- but I sure do like it.
