Okay I just can't seem to get my shit together. I have cheated on my diet for so many days, that my cheats have become my diet. Anyone have any good tips on getting back to a lower carb higher protein diet after cheating for a week of so on sugar......:bawling: :bawling:

A lot of self control cannot be fixed w/ pills or diets, but you can try adding some ECA and fiber before every meal. Also, 5HTP and valerian root can help you a bit.

Usually what I do before I cheat is I ask myself if its really worth it. Every pound of fat I gain sets me 2lbs back. I was kicking myself everyday for months for going from 195 back up to 232 after losing over 100lbs. I kept saying, "Damn it! I could be cut down to 6% instead of 24%!"

You can't do that. All you can do is suck it up, and not let it set you back. We are all in control of what we do, what we eat and how we train. The ultimate decision is ours. My new motto (the clean version) is, "Stop being a wuss and just do it!".

Make it happen because EVERY day you don't make it happen is another day that you'll have to make up if you're going to stick with a program. Eventually our days left to make up out number the days that we have left PERIOD.

JUST DO IT!

what is your problem? overeating? or just eating bad food?

eating bad foods won't make you gain weight if your total cals for the day are reasonable. but overeating will make you fat fast. do some research on ghrelin. ghrelin is a hormone produced in the stomach with the natural ability to stimulate feeding when introduced to specialized weight regulation brain cells called neuropeptide Y neurons....ghrelin levels increase naturally in response to weight loss or reduced caloric intake. As expected, the hormone diminishes in response to food intake.

here is a study:

In the new study, researchers compared ghrelin levels in 13 overweight men and women trying to lose pounds on low-calorie diets. For both the crash dieters and 10 "normal-weight" subjects, ghrelin spiked before meals and fell off after eating. As the dieters lost weight, their daily ghrelin levels rose an average of 24 percent. This increase greatly stimulated the appetite for foods rich in sugar and fat. This explains why dieters not only gain back the weight they lost but gain up to an additional 10% after each diet.

What throws people off, when eating 'bad foods' like a cheat meal or high carbs, is the fact that they look alot worse the next day or even a few hours later. This is mistaken for fat that they have regained, when in reality, it is only bloating and water, put on from the foods that they ate, like carbs, and sodium.

If you have a cheat meal, it could be bennefitial for your body, throwing it back on to a higher metabolic rate. Dont let it get you down and throw all of your dieting down the drain. I personally used to get so stressed after eating a bad meal, but I realized that the stress you cause yourself is worse than the meal you just ate.

True, I bloat a lot after so called bad foods...it is dissapointing because diet, self-control, willpower--whatever you want to call it-- is SOOOOO mental! At least for me, it is!

Gymgurl, I liked the 5HTP, it helped curb cravings, regulated my sleeping patterns, elevated mood...pretty much improved my overall well-being. It's the PRE-Cursor to Serotonin production, if I remember correctly. Now back to the protein issue...were you physically unable to eat the 200 gr's of protein, or what?

hi gym
sorry to hear
why not save you your cheats for a carb up day?
that way you don't need to see it as a cheat
but rather a reward for 5-6 days on ckd

the 5htp will help
i also use glutamine to help curb the cravings

as for all the protien do the recomended amount every other day
and then a lesser amount the next day
really depends on what you are trying to achieve

What will they do for me Mr. X

Fill you up, blunt appetite and curb cravings.

I just wanted to add:

I read Othello by Shakespeare a few month back (again for the 100th time loL) and I quote I saw there might be helpful: "Though life is strong, as strong as though mind can make you believe tis." To me this means that you are strong and no matter what happens w/ your diet it's all mind over diet (so to speak). Control through the use of willpower and your mind and you'll become more than you bargained for.

You are the great you are and you can get through this; sometimes pills are not the answer, but will is.
