Elevated Liver enzymes from protein??

Went to the doc the other day and when we got the results he was upset saying my liver enzymes were 3 times higher than normal. Here's what's weird. I don't take anything! I take designer protein whey, just started taking tight and a multivitamin. Thats it. Anyone have an idea as to why my liver is whacked over this? The doc said it might be the type of protein I'm taking but I dunno. He told me stop everything and come back in 3 weeks.

any suggestions??

Sassy.. whats up STRANGER. you're always in grey

elevated hepatic panels in a blood test usually indicate some type of inflammation of the liver. Hopefully your doc. ask for the various hepatitis tests and another regular hepatic panel to see if that is what is causing the elevated liver enzymes.

Tell him to check your GGT and not just your ALT AST.
This is a common problem with many doctors who test weight lifters. Weight lifting causes your muscles to excrete the exact same enzymes they test for when they do a liver test. There is no way to tell them apart. But GGT will let him know if the stress is in an organ rather than a muscle.

Take it easy. It's usually only an indication of stressed liver function, not the condition "inflamed liver". If you had syptoms of an inflamed liver you wouldn't have to call your doc, he'd be calling you.

thanks :bigkiss:

Listen to Shadow. He's right on the money. I had slightly elevated everthing last blood test due to to the whole lifestyle (weightlifting/protein/etc.....the doc I had knew that and didn't even freak about it.)

Have him look into what Shadow mentioned.
