Egg Substitutes?

I'm on a cutting diet, trying to get my body fat down. Are egg substitutes (specifically, Egg Beaters) ok to eat instead of real eggs/egg whites, or do those have chemicals and other crap in them that should be avoided? As far as real eggs go, I'm ok with eating whites and have been (my normal breakfast is 4-5 egg whites and either 1/4 cup oatmeal or 2 tbsp Cream of Wheat), however, egg yolks make me sick to my stomach and I've never been able to eat them. Just looking to change things up a bit :)

It is colored to look yellow with chemicals and has added "gunk" so it's more processed....

I think it's better & cheaper to stick with eggs -- could you eat the yolk if not runny and cooked till dry say in scrambled eggs? If not, just eat whites and add some healthy fat and add protein powder to your oatmeal/COW...

The only way I can really eat the yolks is if they are in an omelet and it's like a 1 egg: 4-5 white ratio...it's probably more of a psychological thing than physiological. Even as a kid I never ate them--when my dad would make us eggs for breakfast on Sunday mornings, I'd eat the white around the yolk. And I don't like eggs scrambled at all, even just whites.

I think eggs freak me out because when I was little, I was sleeping over at a friend's house, they had a farm and chickens, and her mom cracked an egg into a frying pan and the embryo was actually starting to develop...I couldn't eat eggs @ breakfast for about 6 years after that.

Ewwww, yeah I can see that -- it can be hard to get over that mental image.....

I usually only eat 1 yolk per 3-5 whites myself......but if you truly can't stand the yolk, don't eat it -- use olive oil to cook your eggs instead....

Liquid egg whites = usually 100% whites w/o any chemicals

Safe and Very convenient :)

I actually bought lowfat cottage cheese today, and decided to add 1/2 cup of that to my usual 5 egg whites and 1/4 cup of oatmeal at breakfast.

check out my post about buying a tub of 8 lbs of egg whites( a few threads down)

i plan on picking up some of that ( included the link)

had an omelet this morninig....mixed a whole egg with 5 whites and a little chopped green pepper, a tad of cheddar cheese in the middle, it was good :) I didn't get that "eww egg yolk, I'm gonna vomit" feeling
