Quite a few die-hard metal heads in there that are far from commercial... and we get along with DB fine...

:cow:

I was talking more in the sense of hip hop. And I wasn't slamming DB as a person, but as someone who "supposedly" appreciates "music", he was shown one of the most ignorant attitudes I have ever seen towards music. Reminds me of a senile (sp?) old man yelling about how "you damn kids listen to that hippity hop all day long, talking bout shootin and killin!"

Even I will try to understand music before I slam it - hell, I even went to a Phish concert once just to fully try to "get" it. Still hate the music. But at least I can speak about it and took the effort to learn about it before pooping all over it.

I can understand your viewpoint well, but, on the other hand, I can understand DB's just the same.

Music is diverse, and ther's always going to be those against the mainstream crap permeating the market. At this point in time, it's "rap". A decade ago, it was hair/glam metal. I personally don't mind *some* hip-hop, but the mainstream "rap" is absolute shit. "Do your chains hang low?" C'mon, what the fuck kind of shit is that?

It seems to be 99% rock/metal and then commercial hip-hop. It would take way too much energy to try and battle people's stubborn and sometimes ignorant (i.e. Mr. db) mindset about non-commerical or mainstream music.

Eat my dingleberries.

How does my hatred for rap translate into ignorance about "non-commercial or mainstream music"??? You have no idea what I have and have not heard.

The extreme arrogance of your position is offensive. If someone doesn't like the same things you like, they must be ignorant?

I 100% agree on the mainstream stuff - it's not what I am about nor do I listen or promote it.

But I will NEVER respect someone's POV that just decides to stereotype and label a certain type of music without having the foresight or testicular fortitude to at least learn a little about that type of music. It would be the same as me saying metal is for white trash drunk idiots who live with their parents and have long hair.

Sorry, you eithe respect "music" or you don't. There are no in betweens in my book.
