...Where you feel unappreciated, when you missed a meal and had to settle for something less than nutritious, when nothing's going right, when you can't seem to say the right thing, and you're in such a funk that you almost blow off excercising?

...But you go to the gym anyway, you have an awesome workout, and suddenly your world's turned on its head? Everything is not as bad as it seems, or even bad at all. Everything is fine.

I love the humbling reality check that a great workout preceeded by a lousy day brings. Anyone else in this same boat?

Well I am not in the same boat currently -- but have had that experience. And good for you I say!

Sometimes workouts are hinged on mental over the phsyical ability -- that fact that you were in a funk and still pulled off a great workout makes it even better, no?

Good for you, I say and if I ever shake this little buggy thing I have happening, I am going to the gym with Ceebs grin in my mind and her words echoing in my head!

You are right Ceebs. And even if the workout is "eh" at least you made it to the gym and did SOMETHING.

Every workout will not be killer. But that isn't the goal.

CONSISTENCY IS.

Yep, these days happen... and nothing compares to the relief provided by an intense workout...

Training is just the best thing that tomorrow brings... along with sex!!!:spin:

Indeedy a workout can sure save the day. Just love it when a shitty Monday Monday turns completely around.

BTW a PR for me today-valerie

:)

The point of this thread this morning was not to complain about my day, by the way, but to muse on the mood-elevating properties of excercise.

More and more as I approach my "ideal" physique, I'm realizing that I work out for my mental health above all else. There is something enormously calming, centering, and almost meditative about doing early-morning cardio outdoors, surrounded by tall eucalyptus trees, breathing fresh dewy air, watching the occasional wild rabbit dart across your path, or hearing bats chittering in the air - it's just you, your breathing, and Nature. Physical power isn't the only kind of strength that comes from working out.

Indeed. This is the most mentally stimulating and challenging (and calming) sport I've ever been involved in. Swimming was calming, but never challenging like bodybuilding. I'm seldom grumpy after a workout I started grumpy. I love training like nothing else.

And good for you valerie!

No matter what else is going on in my life, whenever I'm done working out I always feel better...physically AND mentally.
