Drop Sets??

Muay Thai

Don't mean to sound like a total idiot for some reason out of all the reading I have done i have never heard the proper definition of "Drop Sets" can someone explain it please. A trainer at my gym said I should add them to this hard gainer workout I am on.

firstly, hardgainer my ass.

secondly, a drop set is where as soon as you have finished your set of max effort, you instantly remove some weight and do as many reps as possible with that weight.

Multiple drop sets are when you continue doing this with further decreases in weight.

I like drop sets.

I just added (multiple) drop sets this week on someone's recomendation from the board. I loved them. I did them for my curls this week, and I am still pumped from it.

I do have a question about using them though.

What I did was a drop set on the alt dumbell curl. I started with my max 12 rep weight and dropped it by 5 lbs each time until I hit about 15 lb dumbells.

Should I do multiple sets like this when I do these? I did a set like above, then I did 3 normal sets on incline curls, then did another drop set on the preacher curl. Is that the way that I should be doing them? Or will I get more out of doing 3 drop sets in a row on the same exersice?

Thanks,
Dan

What I do is stick with straight sets for most compound during bulking phase i.e low sets and reps

but when I am in a cutting phase I stick to drop sets on everything except squats

good luck

Drop sets with squats... just thinking about it makes my stomach queasy.
