Dieting for first show currently 15 weeks out

Hello all. Nice website you have here. I Was wondering if anyone with competitive expirence can critique my diet. I would greatly appreciate it.

Stats:

Age- 28
Height-5'10
weight-245
BF%- 22

Lifting on and off since I was 15

Supps-Universal nutrition Animal paks and Optimum whey

Current diet

Meal 1 6 egg whites 1 yolk, 1 cup of Oatmeal

Meal 2 2 scoops of Optimum whey, 1 cup oatmeal

Meal 3 8oz of Grilled Chicken,10 0z sweet potato, 1 cup green beans

Meal 4 2 scoops of Optimum whey( Was thinking about toying around here with PW shake)

Meal 5 8oz Grilled Chicken, 2 servings of Peas, 2 cups Salad greens

Meal 6 1 cup low sodium cottage cheese, 7 fish oil caps

Totals for the day:
2498 calories
301 Protein,
204 Carbs
54 Fat

Was thinking about cycling my carbs all the way down to 50grams a day spread out over the course of the week;followed by a refeed day.

What do you guys think?
 
22% Body fat with 15 weeks to go, that's cutting it short man...

Either way, Diet looks decent... I'd make a few adjustments.

-Take the Oats out of meal 2, it's not needed...

-Add some quick acting carbs to your meal 4 (post-workout)... (Dextrose, Fruit etc... )

Don't start the carb cycling until 8 weeks out, I'd go very aggressive about it when you do.

hey ingram, can you clear up something for me. is any fruit juice good as long as it's 100 percent or do you need dextrose? what are sources of dextrose?

what is carb cycling?

im 18 percent, starting to cut, figuring out now what i'm currently eating per day and trying to adjust it accordingly. goal is 10 percent

Fruit Juice is fructose, so id steer clear. I use gatorade PWO but thats just me. Its still not as good as pure dextrose. Also some are liking Waxy Maize. Never tried it though. -DOC
 
Fruit juice = bad.

But gatorade is also poor - it's about 80% sucrose, 20% dextrose, which ends up being 40% fructose. Also not adviseable.

I would say white potato or white bread would be better than either (high GI - all carbs covnertable to muscle glucose), but dextrose or maltodextrin best. Theoretically, desiree potatoes should be as good as pure dextrose based on GI as GI higher than pure glucose.
 
I hate to be pesimmistic, and wish you the best of luck, but what b.f., are you aiming for in the show?

I thought it was hard to lose more than 0.7%bf per week over a long period - if so your only going to get down to 12%.

Im aiming for atleast 8. I think this is more or less going to be a test run,more or less to get in the habit of strict dieting. For testing my BF%, I used the abdomen/neck method they use for the Army because I was without calipers. I dont think that its entirely accurate,because I look way lower than 22%. I think Im around 15-16% to be honest.
