Depression, Diets, and dudes...

:worried: I have recently developed a serious depression because of a relationship that just recently ended. It's horrible to feel this way especially when I want so badly to lose a little weight and get a bit toned before my trip to Puerto Rico in March. I know the first week of February past and I don't have much time. Does anyone know what steps to take to lose a little weight and try and get my stomach and legs a bit toned while undergoing such a depression?..I just find it hard b/c I am not motivated. How do I motivate myself so that I can feel mentally healthy, and physically good about myself??
please help.

YOu can start by doing some due diligence w/ your diet & training. Take a look at the SHadow's Project stickie on the women's fitness board and follow that. Also you can put your daily food intake into a calorie counter like fitday.com and be aware of what you are eating. Spending time doing this may also help you focus on something else more positive besides the old relationship. And get it the gym. Meet and interact w/ other people. Put your frustrations into your cardio. The energy you exert while you train will also help reduce some of the stress I am sure you are going through and also help you sleep better. Which in turn will help recovery from training, keep you more refreshed during the day, etc.

I know its tough to be motivated when being depressed..ive been there.
For me I take my depression and frustrations out on my weight training and cardio, its the best feeling!
after a while the funk im into goes away.
just think of yourself being all nice and toned for Puerto Rico!
start w/ that for motivation and just work your way up!
Good luck to you!

When I was in that same situation, just out of a relationship and really down, I really poured my energy into my training. If nothing else, it put some structure back into my life and I think that when life is hard, having some sort of schedule can create a comforting normalcy again. Good luck!

Gym feeling good about your self. In the end.. Only u can help yourself beat depression

wanaBToned thanks all of you

Hey to all of the ladies that responded ,..thank you so much for your advice. I began working out again and ..I realized that working out is helpful toward making me feel better....I am just curious..what are your opinions on Trim Spa? Do you think this works well with an exercise program?...And is it true that you must do at least 30 min of cardio on the same machine..otherwsie switching machines can lesson the effects of cardio??..just curious since i just started....

I'm moving this to the Fitness Board - since it seems you want more advice on working out / losing fat than relationship advice.

I think whoever told you that, prolly meant that you should do at least 30 minutes on any given cardio machine. The 1st 10 minutes is generally like a warm up. It's after that initial 10 minutes that you woke your body up and letting it know you're doing something. At my gym they suggested 20 minutes of each cardio machine. However, read Shadow's program sticky. I started doing HIIT and it's much more brutal but over with so much faster (at least it seems), and you can tell you did something with just 30 minutes.
