Deadlifting my way to Happiness - Al420's log

Is this the same one who's starting Oly lifting at age 8? That kid's going to be a badass.

Yes it is, but my 6yr old has him already - if he liked to train as much as his big bro he would be a animal, but he is more focused on his Power Ranger moves - this weekend he cut his head tring to do a 2 legged flying kick ala Jimmy "The Super Fly" Snuka.

It's funny really - last Xmas I turned the garage into a boxing gym and this year we are adding Oly weights and a bar. Glen said the best way to teach the little ones was to train some w/ them - not my real workload, but just toy around at home. So I am getting an Oly bar, a few plates and him the junior bar (weights 10kg) and some training plates (same size as a plzte but are only 2.5kg per.

Al is turning out record breakers and heart takers ...... ladies watch out. :chomp:

Todays workout:

Back Squat: 135x10, 185x5, 225x5, 275x5, 315x5

Leg Press: 8 plates x12, 12 plates x10, 14 plates x10, 12 plates x8 drop8 plates x10 drop 4 plates x8 - almost puked, legs were swole...lol

Leg Ext: 4 plates x12, 5 plates x10, 6 plates x8x2

I am going in w/ no plan right now. It is not a good idea for those considering it! I need to rework the next 2 weeks and really pound my back squat, deadlift and row (no shoulder or chest for 2 weeks at least). Suggestions anyone? 4-day split????

I will be doing a lot of stretching (thanks Treilin) and will do some really light HS work this week on chest - prob no weight at all, just to keep the gears moving. If I feel good I will add weight and I will use ice afterwards w/ out question.

I want to also thank Treilin for helping me. I expect some of you select meatheads to help me but for one of the ladies to swoop in and save me is just too much - She is just awesome, I can't thank her enough.

I've got my 4 year old in the gym with me sometimes yelling "light weights" while I'm going 3 rep. work loads. Fuck that light shit! Let him see what weight looks like and what it take to move it. Mine yells and thinks it's the best thing in the world. Then he DL the 15 lbs. bar a few reps and tries to do some DB bench and gets a bloody lip from droping it on his face. good times...

You have children? :worried:

Funny stuff. I can't wait to see your kid calling Al's kid a weakling on this board in about 15 years.
